Such decisions should be fully investigated. I think it’s more a case of incompetence rather than anything more sinister. Shrewsbury’s penalty was missed by diver Bayliss so justice was seen to be done but the other game finished 0-0. Both those ref’s must be knackered after reffing Sunday League this morning.
I think it's because the ball is quite far (relatively) away from both players. You can sort of understand the referee thinking it was just a 'coming together'. Not everyone claimed for it either.
Just a bit of a strange passage of play that in the moment perhaps didn't look like it warranted a penalty. We get enough penalties given for next to nothing so seeing one not given isn't the end of the world.
