Standing Clive, standing I like to think I'm starting 2 or 3 songs away from home, by just being so relentless that the poor people around me just have to join in.... I actually quite like 'Come on Ipswich, Come on Ipswich' (the slowed down remix).. old skool At home I tend to just be a conduit of songs started in lower north or block A - I have a fondness for the tribal 'blue and white army' Do you shout a lot at the game Clive? - you know 'come on town', 'come on you blue boys' - in-between songs in a slightly Tourette's kind of a way? or is that just me?! But yeah very excited about tonight... it s a really big game in a series of big games... I feel season defining. We'll know if autos are serious by the end of the Stoke game, or we're vying for 4th, 5th, 6th. And as per this thread - Town fans have a part to play. Lift them up when things aren't going well. Danger the nerves spill over tonight.

Good man. Big fan of the 'come on Ipswich', it does what it says on the tin, and like all good terrace chants its easy for others to join in with. Oh I'll be singing, something about a night game that lends itself to it more for me. Especially as I'm meeting some friends at 5:30 and it's an 8pm k/o so there will be time for a few pints. Whatever happens, whether it be tonight, Saturday, the season as a whole, we've got a squad and a manager that we can be really proud of. If we fall short it certainly wouldn't be through a lack of effort or application. It may well happen through a lack of quality relative to the PL parachute clubs, but I'm 100% sure it won't be through effort. Therefore as fans we owe it to give back, to lift the side and not be too down when things don't go our way. We can't become spoiled from the start we've had.

Yes, I'm not driving tonight - and while alcohol isn't big or clever - i'll be firing up nicely with a few pre-match beverages. 7 of us going tonight, dare I call them mates. Very up for it. For me this has been the most enjoyable season since the Burley promotion pushes and the Premiership season. Just feel connected to the manager and players, and the football at times has been a joy to watch - Hull and the first half against the Swans were just how I want football to be played. I agree that we may well drop off due to the quality squad gap against recent parachute payment teams - but its all a good learning curve for McKenna, and perversely he may stay longer if we do falter a bit now. But 100% agree fans need to repay the dedication and effort put in by our manager and the players - and just back the feck out of them for 90mins. This is what we all wished for, and whilst I do get some people just aren't up for singing and shouting like loons, those who are need to bring their A game - get some steam out into the cold Suffolk air. Because the manger and players have told us upteenth times that it helps! Enjoy it Clive - lets hope we're celebrating later, having left nothing on the terraces.

I hope to one day make that transition to the thermos flask, tartan rug, sedate applause of the Cobbold C block.. like going to the elephants graveyard.. but not for some time Sitters.. there's rabid alcohol fuelled raucous support for some seasons to come. That's the weird and sort of wonderful thing about TWTD is that people perceive other posters how they want, how they feel that day, and how they interpret words. Which will be hugely off the mark as to what the poster is actually like. I have you down as a very committed fan, blue army your life, family man, trainspotter leanings, politically somewhat right. But you're probably a liberal Clooneyesque media Svengali?

I always think 'Come on Ipswich' is the frustration chant - at least lately. When the fans think the team isn't playing to their best and want them to improve.

You're thinking of the speeded up version 'Come on ipswich, come on ipswich' (rat ta tat tat, with as you say an edge of frustration) Not the melodic 'Coooommme on Ipswich, Cooommmmme on Ipswich, Commme on Ipswich, Come on' (slow, melodious beautiful... I have a tear in my eye typing this pointofblue) I hope that helps
