What's a life worth eh... 11:42 - Dec 12 with 907 viewsbluelagos

Clearly the cause of death is yet to be established but if it is a case of suicide, then the Tories have blood on their hands. Irrespective, treating those seeking refuge as criminals is disgusting.

Well, I'm sure that this story will bring out the best in everyone.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Before the day is out Lee Neanderson or one of his odious cronies will be posting that this is a remarkable coincidence as the Commons boat vote approaches, and the BBC/Guardian latte-swilling metropolitan elite has made this up.

RIP and I hope the poor sod's death isn't weaponised. That's probably a forlorn hope.

We don't know the circumstances of this case, but as a general point I think it shames us the way we treat refugees. It shouldn't be difficult to treat claimants fairly but firmly and remember that these people are often very vulnerable. Speed the whole process up too and it would save us a good amount of public money. But I suspect our current govt are not interested in actually solving a problem from which they can generate political capital. It's a mess the next administration will have to tidy up.

We need to be exerting a lot more pressure upon the bad actors in those parts of the world that are producing the refugees too. At the moment there seems to be an endless supply of refugees fleeing political and military persecution. We can't do much about those displaced by natural disasters, but we can seek diplomatic solutions to try and improve political instability or regimes blatantly abusing human rights (even though we're also eroding our own moral authority on human rights at the moment - but gain, that's something the next administration can hopefully begin to reverse)
