One thing I felt about last night 09:40 - Dec 30 with 5859 views | Guthrum | If QPR didn't have Asmir Begovic in goal, we'd have won that. He is a good quality 'keeper and made some excellent saves - diverting Ladapo's shot with his leg, tipping Hutchinson's one over the bar. Plus claiming loose balls you see a lot of goalies at this level punching or missing altogether. We can't entirely concentrate on the Ipswich side of the equation. I also think (based on both games) that Sinclair Armstrong could be extremely effective in a better team. (Two ... two things I felt about last night ...) [Post edited 30 Dec 2023 9:50]

Friday night under the lights innit. Fooootball. Shame about the clueless day trippers abusing our players but that's been done. |
No, QPR were crapper. | |

One thing I felt about last night on 09:36 - Dec 31 by The_Flashing_Smile | He's hard work because he doesn't agree with you? I don't agree with you either. You reckon QPR were the better team first half and yet we had two 1-on-1s with their keeper. |
No because there’s an element of forced positivity after results don’t go are way. Same after Leeds. We are apparently taking the entire game not snippets but only really highlighting our few chances, most of which didn’t come from sustained pressure either. Good that makes me feel better about my opinion! People that have played the game in the TownTV studio disagreed with both of you as well. It was just a pretty sh**e game and we didn’t do enough to win it, escaped two penalty shouts and they hit the inside of the post. Missed a few chances ourselves, they sat deeper at the end but we didn’t create enough as the clock ticked down even though we kept going. Onto Stoke.

Forced positivity? I said a draw was a fair enough result but that we had the better chances, that's a perfectly reasonable description of the game. No wonder you find me hard work if you're struggling with that characterisation of the game.

What difference does it make if two one-on-ones came from sustained pressure or not? I've no idea what people in a TV studio said as I was at the actual game. However, given that Mick Mills apparently moaned about the amount of changes and nobody picked up on it, I'm not sure citing pundits is the argument strengthener you think it is. You talk about forced positivity but you seem to be doing the opposite; bigging up QPR's chances more than our own. Even in this post here it's evident: "Missed a few chances ourselves." Two one-on-ones with the keeper are a little more than how you've basically dismissed them.

One thing I felt about last night on 18:09 - Dec 30 by Durovigutum | The problem is there is nothing concrete in the rules to define "time wasting". If the keeper has the ball in their hands it is clear - six seconds - but for free kicks, corner kicks and so on there is nothing to help the referee make a clear call. Do you send someone off when the laws of the game are unclear - no chance. It is one of a number of messes that are the LoTG. Have a look at how many cards you can have if dissent sin bins are played, three yellow cards and in one circumstance a red follows but in another it doesn't. How about two yellows and you can sub the player who must be withdrawn but who doesn't receive a red? How about handball? Or have you read the definition between a reckless yellow and dangerous red card - almost impossible to understand the difference. Compare this to futsal: For kick-ins, free-kicks, goal clearances and corner kicks, the player in possession of the ball has four seconds to restart play which the referee will count with their fingers in the air. If play isn't restarted within four seconds an indirect free-kick will be awarded to the opposing team. |
the 6 second rule is never enforced & it needs to be regularly & punished with a (near useless) indirect free kick. That might change behaviour. And almost every keeper now drops to the ground, even after taking a routine catch, which I think is embarrassing, but as no-one is ever penalised, it will continue. Begovic was excellent last night & is clearly still a quality keeper. His time wasting was no worse than what unfortunately the norm these days.
