Top 6 side at home, dip in form by our standards, still a few injuries, Saints could be 2nd by KO. Really feels like we need to bounce back don’t want to be staring down the barrel of 7 league games without a win.

Travis in his interview as I said earlier has been the first player to speak of it, so clearly if that's part of our transfer talks then it's the expectation (well target) of Km and the club.

No ones in panic mode, it's completely normal to hope we kick-start our 2024 mini season with a league win.

Travis was asked why he came here and mentioned promotion because we happen to be second. There is no evidence that's part of our transfer talks or expectations. He's simply looked at the league table.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

No-one's ignoring the non-wins. It's just interesting that Churchman went with, "We’ve lost only once in the last five games" (and qualified that we've had a lot of our best players missing and played two of the toughest teams and a derby in there). Meanwhile, you go with the simple, "Lost only once, won none. Only scored 3 goals."

Churchman's is closest to the truth because his provides context.

Yours is the negative take. Again.

His context makes his comment closer to anything, the truthful comments are both sides of those stats.

What is it you want? I acknowledged and accepted and agreed with the positives of not conceding many goals, I've also accepted and agreed the positives with no losses in 5, but you personally might not like to accept it, but we haven't won a league game in 5 attempts, there's no context needed, it's 5 games without a win.

Now. You will probably concentrate on one post, but there are a few nice discussions with churchman, its upto you of you want to understand both sides, but I'm not gonna spend more time arguing about fake forced positivity, just because you deem stating facts about win totals across 5 games as just taking a negative view.

Belief was mentioned, the game v Sunderland seen as an important upcoming game, the reason is simply because we've not won in 5 games, it's just how it is.

Lol brilliant

You genuinely believe we are talking to players, bringing them in without targeting promotion..

Travis was asked the aim of the team and himself personally, the team one was "promotion obviously"

But if you want to purposely pretend we aren't targeting promotion, then I can't help you.

No, I just said it's interesting that it's you taking the negative side. It's always you.

Of course context is needed. It's not "fake forced positivity" to add context.
In fact "stating facts" whilst removing the context is actually fake forced negativity, which you excel in. Context is the full picture.

It's obvious what the aim is - it's the aim of every football club. We just happen to be in a strong position. There's nothing extra or unusual here. We're certainly not "expecting" it but we'll obviously be trying for it.

Our approach will be exactly the same - one game at a time, and no panicking/looking at the negative side (without context) and fretting. They'll leave that to you.

It's the target, which I've already said in this thread. And no I don't agree it's the same target of every club.

And yes the approach wil be the same, no one has said it will be anything different

However the whole point which you've ignored was about that next win being important to keep up that belief, or even give new belief if any players had lost it following no wins in 5. That's the whole and only point of discussing the no wins in 5 In this thread.

Agreed… need at least a performance and then Rotherham win on 10:05 - Jan 7 by WestStanderLaLaLa

We won’t be playing Rotherham on the 27th

Would have been good to have a winnable home tie, after Sunderland and Leicester

Let’s hope the players, some in new roles, can raise their game against Sunderland and the Portman Road crowd can also be at their best with a positive atmosphere

Firstly, you haven't once talked about keeping up belief - this is your first mention of it. Moving the goalposts, as you always do. Creating straw men because your argument's full of holes.

No-one's lost belief. We lost several important players. That's the main reason the form dipped. Context.

"
They say the longer a run goes the harder it gets, so today's win will hopefully give the players as the poster said a little belief again and beating Sunderland would be a great result to kick-start 2024."

One of my earliest replies in this thread.

Look you're clearly trying to cause another thread derailing for no reason. I've not said anything wrong in this thread despite your attempts at saying I have. You've also clearly ignored purposely things I have said.

No one is arguing the context behind a run of winless games. The context is fully accepted. Completely agreed with. This doesn't however automatically mean that there isnt potential for heads to drop slightly when there's been a mini run of non wins. It's not that deep. It's certainly not something to keep arguing about for 3 pages.

Can’t we just enjoy the season? We had so many miserable years (with hope thrown in in 15) and we are second in a brutal league in which we have scored more goals than anyone else. Why should people be getting anxious, and possibly panicking, because a few games haven’t been won. We have still only lost 3

I find it all exciting and am enjoying my football. Enough!

"hopefully give the players... a little belief again". As I said, you haven't said anything about keeping belief, you've suggested we've lost it. I'm saying that's bobbins.

You've just said this thread is all about keeping belief but all your posts have actually been about lost belief and needing to restore it. You don't even seem to know what you've written, even when quoting yourself.

You're doing a Glassers at the end claiming I'm keeping an argument going. I'm not arguing with myself, you're replying. It's not even 3 pages, it's 2. You're utterly clueless in every respect.

Well said. And as I've said, there's massive context to those few games we haven’t won; injury, illness and our captain's suspension. There's nothing fundamental to worry about. And there should be very little criticism of this record breaking team.

I think you’re not reading the sub-text to the thread

Of course everyone on this thread and I assume the board agrees this is the best season since the Burley years, and all will celebrate a play-off place, in what will have been a remarkable season.

But we’re also enjoying the battle for second place, and I suspect McKennas is going to be backed to keep that hope and campaign going - two strong loanees already, and we’re only 7 days into the window.

So the Sunderland game is important in that context.

But I’m enjoying this season immeasurably. It’s been a classic.

It’ll be tricky; they’ll be wanting to bounce back from getting spanked by the Geordies. I fear they’ll enjoy being away from home and the underdog. 3 points is massive for us. Massive.

From what I saw Sunderland did look dangerous going forward towards the end.
Pace n power - which is what I fear for us .
And especially without our captain.
