Jack Taylor 14:52 - Jan 27 with 5043 viewsgtsb1966

After our lengthy pursuit of him I was really looking forward to him breaking into the team and making it hard for him to be dropped. It really is puzzling as to why he hasn't taken the chance to be a regular.

Taylor has had a poor game today. But had moments.

He was critical to the Leicester win.

He shows incredible promise.

I cannot believe people are slating him.

He has real potential.

We drew with Leicester both times.

But agree it’s early to right him off.

I think most of us are eager for him to become an important player for us but he’s just not shown the consistency that Mass and Morsy have. Travis too stepped in seemlessly and looked very impressive (albeit he’s very experienced at this level and exactly what we need at this point). I suspect IF we go up you’d see Taylor go out on loan, there’s a player in there but he does seem to lack a bit of confidence.

Difficult first season? Harness has been much better in his second season with us, despite the fact he's now playing at a higher level. I was sceptical of the taylor signing after his performances against us but you never know. Mckenna's brilliant at improving players.

As he offers a completely different skill set to the other midfielders we have and allows us a level of flexibility.

He is distinctly average and has looked so in every single game he has played.

I think it's more fundamental than that, I think his first touch is very poor and often leads to us losing the ball. It's just not good enough for the position he's asked to play in a McKenna team.

Great shot on him and scores a few goals but that's secondary when looking at the requirements for our CM's.

Unfortunately for him he might better as a 10 but he's not better than about 4 other 10's that we also have in the squad.

I think he will do well from the bench but don't see him becoming a starter at the moment.

It's not just his first touch, because he also has the habit of doing something good but then spoiling it by a poor and rather rushed pass.

It seems to me that he just needs to show a bit more composure, but this aspect of his game hasn't really improved since the Luton friendly.

Perhaps because there is no obvious role for him in the team and he had become disillusioned?

One of an increasing number of failures the huge recruitment team have been bringing in
