Sam Williams on 20:51 - Feb 9 by pennblue | I don't know what all the fuss about. Paul Cook was the best recruiter we have had in a while. I thought this window was pretty shambolic and the summer was too it seems. I mean, last day of the Jan window and Moore came in last day. If Bournemouths signing had fallen through, we would have been stuffed. Hardly robust planning was it? |
That's quite the take. We had three irons in the fire: Moore, Stansfield and Gallagher. Moore was dependent on another player coming in. Stansfield was scuppered by a managerial change. Gallagher was a player Blackburn wanted to move on, until they sold a player for a huge sum. So three very good targets identified. One came off, but we had to wait. No Director of Football or Head of Recruitment could have persuaded Bournemouth to let Moore go earlier than they did within our budget constraints. | |
