"1700 fans go mad in Devon"

As good as...

"The goalkeeper is in a right pickle"

Brenner is ridiculously good. He never misses a beat, and never gets it wrong. How he's not one of the Beeb's leading commentators is beyond me. Maybe he doesn't want it.

Rather selfishly, I don't want him to either.

Brenner is the voice of my Saturday afternoons. Love the guy.

With the performance of the team over the past year he is no longer accused of hating Ipswich/loving the opposition/having a Norfolk accent despite being from Berwick.

Absolutely. Am thrilled for him that he’s covering us through this period. 21 years a Town commentator and up until McKenna’s arrival he had maybe 5 decent years to report on. Next season he could be sitting in the commentary positions at Anfield or Old Trafford, which would be quite the change from sitting in an empty Pirelli Stadium just 4 years ago.

Loved listening to Brenner's commentary over the years when our games weren't televised. That was before everything became geolocked on the Interweb.

His emotional, voice-cracking, “two sucker punches right at the end of the first half” line from Barnsley away is forever in my head. An iconic piece of commentary.

It was that momentary pause between 'Hirst shoots' and '2-0' that got me. The voice broke at that point as well. I went absolutely ballistic at home listening to that goal. Surprised the guy in the flat below didn't knock on my door.
