Huge congrats to Needham Market.

National League (probably North) next season.

Poll: Favourite Norwich Relegation?

Do they not go in to the South, having been promoted from the Southern Central Premier? They restructured step 3 a while ago because sides were fed up going from the Isthmian to the National North and introduced a 4th league.

Would make too much sense!

The news item I saw said they'd go into the North section so trips to Blyth and South Shields rather than Braintree or Hemel Hempstead.

That of course is what Bishop's Stortford had to do. No Essex derbies against Chelmsford and Braintree. Someone said (on here) that clubs are not allowed to decline to be promoted, which seems a bit unreasonable.

Even Gloucester are in National League North this season! They will 100% be in North - the upper echelons of non league football in this country are extremely southern heavy at the moment.

Or Torquay or Truro which are further away than Blyth

Stortford have never had Essex derbies as it's in Hertfordshire.

True, but it is a bit Essex in spirit, isn't it ?

Be even better if AFC Sudbury get relegated.

You hope it doesn’t overstretch them financially by being in the National League North. There will be some really long trips for them in that league. It will make recruiting players really challenging.

Poll: Where are we going to finish?

You are right of course!

Having just googled it, I find that the River Stort is named after the town, rather than the other way round, with early map-makers mistakenly assuming the name of the town must mean' ford across the Stort'. The same thing happened in Suffolk when the River Box was named after Boxford, the name of the village being older than the name of the river.

West Essex and the M11 corridor are a different world for most of us in the rest of the county.

Yes, to be fair their ground is almost in Essex, the county border runs past it.

Maybe but that area includes Harlow, which is as about as Essex as you can get.

Harlow like Basildon is a post - war new town with no history, formed with overspill cockneys en masse, very different from the rest of the county.

Well done to them, but they will need deep pockets, as it just about bankrupted Lowestoft, and we had bigger crowds, but I hope they do well 💪

I have a book called 'Classic Bus Rides' in which the author claims there are two Essexes - the twee Essex of picturesque villages and another one typified by a one time MP for Braintree, this Essex he calls Gormandy...

Yeah, that's the concern (and you can't refuse promotion either). The North/South imbalance isn't ideal at that level - although when you're in Suffolk you're screwed for distances either way!

Will be interesting to see if it results in an increased number of development loans from us to them - given the higher level. Might help to supplement a few who decide that travelling up north all year isn't for them. Would expect the other Suffolk clubs to have a chance of pinching a player or two who doesn't fancy that...

Poll: Was that the worst result in the clubs history?
