I would hope so. Let Leicester carry on winning. I think we have more to worry about how Leeds do. The best case scenario would be for Middlesborough to beat Leeds, Leicester to beat Saints and the Leeds and Saints draw.

‘Let Leicester carry on winning.’ Why? There are currently 2 automatic spots up for grabs. Why would you want to remove one of those from the equation. We’re 5 points ahead of Southampton, so if we finish behind them now we’ve royally screwed it up and won’t be top 2 anyway. I’d be happier with a draw or even a Southampton win, keeps those 2 spots open and also Southampton are much more likely to be up for it last day against Leeds.

For me it depends how Leeds get on tomorrow. If they win then my preference is probably for Southampton to win, tighten it all up and keep Leicester honest. If they don’t, then I’ll happily see Leicester pull away, kill Saints off and back us to get the 2 wins needed to beat Leeds to 2nd.

If Leeds do the unthinkable and lose tomorrow, a Foxes-Saints draw would leave the table:

Foxes... 44 : 92 : +42
Ipswich 43 : 89 : +32
Leeds... 44 : 87 : +41
Saints... 44 : 85 : +29

Southampton would then be strong favourites to beat Stoke at home, leaving the table:

Foxes... 44 : 92 : +42
Leeds... 45 : 90 : +42
Ipswich 43 : 89 : +32
Saints... 45 : 88 : +30-33

Or:
Foxes... 44 : 92 : +42
Ipswich 43 : 89 : +32
Leeds... 45 : 88 : +41
Saints... 45 : 88 : +30-33

Or:
Foxes... 44 : 92 : +42
Ipswich 43 : 89 : +32
Saints... 45 : 88 : +30-33
Leeds... 45 : 87 : +40

Win one away game and Southampton would be finished, potentially Leeds too. Home win to seal the deal perhaps, with the title still a possibility.

No away win and Southampton would still have everything to play for at Elland Rd. A draw or win for them could be enough for us, while two away draws would definitely keep us in control of our destiny.

They're around 4/9 to beat Stoke, so I'm not sure your first point holds.

Can get 8/15.

5/2, 8/15 and then let’s say 7/2 to win at Leeds works out to 25/1. So not quite 33s but you’d have the insurance that even if they won all three, you’d be paid out.

Whereas it’s now quite likely that even if they win all three, they still finish below Leicester and us. Maybe Leeds too. But very much Leicester and us.

Poll: Would you take a draw tonight if offered right now?

They’re 3.5/1 to win the next 2 with skybet. Wouldn’t imagine they’ll be any more than 3/1 to win at Leeds. Be lucky to get 12/1 IMO.

Even if they’re 3/1, that’s 17/1 the treble..

Which I grant you is still not 33s but even if they win all three, it’s odds on that we and Leicester still finish above them.

33/1 saints top 2 is a poor bet in comparison to 17/1 on individual Southampton match wins.

Don’t disagree in principle, Soton top 2 is a honking bet. Just pointing out that a treble on their remaining games wouldn’t be close to better odds than 33/1.
