I know it's a major issue... 20:13 - May 26 with 6603 viewsPhilTWTD

...but really feel the constant debates on Gaza/Israel and the ill feeling and unpleasantness that comes with them is detracting from the site at the moment. Perhaps if people want detailed debates on the subject they can take part in them elsewhere. As someone said in the thread I've just removed, I don't really need to be refereeing the discussions 24 hours a day or during Bank Holidays.

Unlike the Times, the FT and at least until recently the Telegraph, the Guardian is not subject to a paywall, which means its articles are easy to link.

The replies in this comment are pretty indicative of various people who like a good snipe and ignores/disrespects Phil's last sentence

"I don't really need to be refereeing the discussions 24 hours a day or during Bank Holidays."

Sorry and all that Phil but ......
https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/27/global-shock-after-israeli

An Israeli airstrike that caused a huge blaze at a tented area for displaced people in Rafah has killed 45 people, medics have said, with images of charred and dismembered children prompting an outcry from global leaders and putting ceasefire talks in jeopardy.

'Bombing overnight that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said targeted senior Hamas militants in a precision strike appears to have ignited fires that spread quickly through tents and makeshift accommodation, overwhelming a nearby field hospital operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross and overstretched local hospitals.

“We pulled out people who were in an unbearable state,” Mohammed Abuassa, who rushed to the scene in the north-western neighbourhood of Tel al-Sultan, told the Associated Press. “We pulled out children who were in pieces. We pulled out young and elderly people. The fire in the camp was unreal.”

Not sure there is even a debate to be had here....Ceasefire now!
