Have Everton dodged a bullet? 14:29 - Jun 1 with 1753 views | You_Bloo_Right | No takeover by 777 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0wwdpwzld9o The "investment firm" looks to be in all sorts of trouble financially and yet this leaves the club in the hands of Moshiri with a savage debt and the possibility of going into administration. Will Textor be the saviour or will that be out of the frying pan, into the fire? Whilst I have over the years found it galling that Everton somehow always seem to find a way to avoid the drop, I wouldn't want the club to disappear altogether - that would be criminal wouldn't it? Have Everton doged a bullet? on 14:38 - Jun 1 with 1656 views | Churchman | Why would it be criminal for Everton to go under? Nobody cared a hoot about Bury Town and they wouldn’t if we’d gone to the wall. Their club meant just as much to their supporters. If they are liquidated, they would just form a new club at the bottom level and work their way up. Punishment? Yes, but the club will survive because there are people that want to follow a club called Everton. For too many years favouritism for ‘important’ clubs has distorted right and wrong. Man City with 115 breeches of FFP? No chance they’ll be punished. West Ham play an ineligible player that arguably saves them from relegation? Nominal fine, a nod a wink and conspiratorial smile. Swindon?Relegated two divisions, reduced to one. Throw the book at them. So no, I’ve no sympathy whatsoever with Everton. If they go under, they’ll just have to start again. Not the end of the world and perhaps a lesson to others that nobody is above the rules.

Agreed. It seems the lower league teams are hit harder because can't outspend the EFL/FA pn legal counsel. Man C will talk the FA into submission as they can afford to pay enough lawyers to make it unsustainable for the FA to continue paying theirs

Why? Don't know really Church. An old man's nostaglia perhaps. Not that it wasn't equally criminal when Bury were expelled. Maybe I've just reached that (st)age.

Yes, many legitimate legal cases end up with the party that’s going to win dropping the case because it doesn’t make financial sense. However, the EPL are duty bound to pursue what they feel are legitimate cases due to the requirement to be fair to all other Prem teams. And yes, while Man City can spend millions defending it, putting their case, etc., at the same time that cost will actually affect their p&l/balance sheet and therefore their PSR going forward
Have Everton dodged a bullet? on 16:27 - Jun 1 with 1309 views | Guthrum | Everton supporting mate of mine was not at all happy about the potential 777 takeover. Lots of problematic stuff with their background, quite apart from the lack of actual money.

Yes, from the relatively little I’ve read about it, it comes over as a giant Ponzi scheme that’s been found out . .
