Anyone got one? Looking to buy one as a present, specifically the Fenix 7x sapphire solar. Looks nice, got great reviews, but just wondered if anyone has owned one.

Went around Noj a few days ago to try and find one to try on, closest I came was a similar sized model in John Lewis, they're chunky things, for sure - couldn't try one on for size though, unfortunately.

Depends what you want to use it for. I have a Garmin 645 for runner as I am a coach and athlete so use it for giving me an idea of times, distances, cadence, heart rate etc. never had a problem with it.

Got nothing but positive things to say based on my experience, but I tend to play lower down their price range and avoid pieces that are (too) clunky. The two I have purchased have had great longevity, good battery life and very accurate GPS. App is decent too.

I got a used Venu off eBay for 30% of the price of a Samsung I had before. The Garmin is so much better, battery life is decent, does everything I need it to do. Has accurately tracked my calories and enabled me to lose over 8kg in the last 8 weeks. I can imagine the one you're referencing is significantly better too!!

It's for my son, he runs, cycles, does gym, and he's asked for a Garmin - even though he's an iphone user - so just for all the stuff you mentioned really.

Not knowing anything about them, I just Googled Garmin watches, and this one looks really, really good, but being old school, I just wanted to see one in real life before ordering online.

I've got a Forerunner 55, one of their cheaper ones. I really like it, but I mainly use it for running.

I was also worried about the chunkiness but after wearing it for a bit I just got over it.

I have a Garmin Fenix 7 Solar, and love it. Had a Fenix 5 for 5 years until the GPS started to go a bit haywire, so upgraded last April. fits me nicely in terms of size (I don't find it too big or small for my wrists), and wear it literally all the time - work, and running. The app is also excellent, and I've not found anything as good

I've got one of these too, and just use it for pacing when doing runs/races, and it totally does the job. I'm never really sure what extra stuff people get with the more expensive Garmins.

What kind of running do you coach? I'm just getting into running seriously this year and doing lots of races, absolutely love it, can't believe I didn't do it when I was younger.

I looked at getting a second-hand Venu just because they look a bit more like a standard watch but as you say, the 55 does the job for what I need.

I have used Garmin products for some years, first for running & then for golf (I am getting old) and I would say that their after sales customer service has always been very good.

I've had a series of Garmins and always go back to them because they are so good. I never buy the expensive ones and tend to go for midrange ones. Currently on a ForeRunner 245 Music which is great and has everything I need (I would survive with just an accurate GPS system but this includes HR, cadence, etc).
As a bit of background I'm a fairly experienced runner so can sort out my own training sessions, but do often use the suggested runs it gives me. I don't care for any smartwatch features and turn off notifications.

Got the fenix 5plus. Brilliant brilliant watch for all things sport, long battery life, comes into its own for me on ultra runs.

Also had older iteration of Apple watch and it didn’t come close for a variety of reasons, but their new ultra version does look nice!

I have the 6x pro, looking at upgrading to either the 7x pro or the Epix pro shortly.
Amazing watches as will last for so long between charges, even when using GPS (did an ultra last year and hardly used much battery at all)
The Fenix range is a great all round watch, can do golf, running, hiit work, etc, also the navigation feature is very handy to use. Also, if they are into understanding more about their body, the watch gives some really useful information to help you train and recover, stuff you never thought about but makes sense when you see it.
Basically, if you love data, this is a great watch
There are some really good sales on them at the moment too

I agree, amazing watches! They are far superior to Apple on the fitness side of things! I have an Enduro 2 and I adore it!!! It's a beast of a watch and battery lasts about a month (less if I've done more longer runs) but still impressive battery life. You get that as it is memory in pixel display, you can get brighter screens with the likes of the epix but battery life takes a big hit. The Fenix ranges are all great, I'm wondering when the next fenix will be out as that will likely lead to an enduro 3... I'll be straight in the queue for one of those.

I have the Fenix 7 solar and love it. The Golf course & Ski run mapping features seem to be a big premium selling point so if this isn't something you will use, you might want to check whether there is a more cost efficient (Garmin) alternative that meets your needs- not sure.

But if you don't mind the cost - I thoroughly recommend.

I have a Garmin Epix 2. It's at the high-end of the range and I wouldn't necessarily buy at that level again (it was the only one available with the much prettier OLED screen at the time).

Something like the ForeRunner 165/265 would be plenty for someone that's just running/cycling casually.

I get what your saying, but it's a (special) birthday present, so I'm pushing the boat out a bit and going for the Fenix because of its looks and durability and the rave reviews I've seen about it.
