I can never understand why people give him the views. Is it morbid curiosity or suchlike?

To be honest I'd be very surprised if we offered him one to a degree.

Let me qualify this by saying I love Chaplin. Possibly my favorite player over these last two seasons along with Morsy and Wes.

However, Chaplin was really off the boil in the second half of last season. He still grabbed a few goals but had very little influence in many matches. He was good in some but was way off his usual level. Was it 10 goals at the half way stage and just 3 after? He even lost his place in the starting line up at one stage which seemed unthinkable for the 12-18 months before.

Being another step up then we will need players / a number 10 that do will all the stuff that Chaplin does but better and also that do more of the stuff he doesn't. I could see McKenna wanting someone in that role that can carry the ball like Omari or Jezza as well as just someone that can arrive late and link up play.

He was nowhere near as effective in the Championship as he was in League One in terms of how involved he was in the match. At times both Chaplin and Broadhead could go 10, 15, 20 minutes barely touching the ball.

In footballing terms I was sad when Leigh left. Really sad when Jackson departed. It'll be a really sad day when the likes of Chaplin are potentially left behind by the new recruitment. I'd love nothing more than Chaplin to prove me wrong and bang them in in the top flight but I think he's probably one of the first 2 or 3 on the team sheet McKenna would be looking to upgrade.

Think that is a fair assessment. Would like to see him here next season though.
