It always absolutely staggers me that this is even a question. What is a human but an animal with a more powerful brain? Of course animals think and feel. It shows such an irrational, dogmatic blockage in people when they propose otherwise, whether through weak science, fear, or nutty religions, and it probably reflects one of the fundamental weaknesses in the human psyche that explains why we don't take care of our world.

We're not special and different.

Oftentimes Id rather spend time with animals than humans..

Very few humans have the positive joy for being alive, the integrity, bravery, and sense of adventure as a goat. I've just spent all afternoon playing with our kid goats and not many humans would have been as fun to be around today. So I see where you are coming from.

My Border Collie winds me. She will bring me my slippers only to run run off with them as I go to take them is just one example. If she is naughty and I tell her she is a bad dog she will sulk and look at me only to turn away when I look at her just as a 5 year old child would. She knows the name of her toys and tidies up putting them back in the box before bedtime. She knows when I am not in the mood to play and when she is not in the mood she goes to lie in her bed. She is not only conscious but intelligent.
