They started off in a weak position when they called the GE and have spent weeks shooting themselves in the foot. Sunak is thin-skinned, arrogant, weak, and out of touch. Boris Johnson was also all of these things but he managed to perform like a circus clown to try and hide it, Sunak lacks the ability to do that so his contempt for the electorate shines through. Despite my complete lack of faith in Labour to do anything positive, I really hope the Tories get completely wiped out on the 4th of July. They've broken the country and blamed it on everyone but themselves.

I hope they aren't completely annhilated to the degree that Reform get any real leverage. As bad as this government is, Reform is certainly worse. The only good thing about them is that they are splitting each other's vote share.

That was shocking in tone and temperament from Sunak. He needs to go on a Dale Carnegie course.

Or perhaps it's a case of "it's Dale Carnegie gone wild" as the Boomtown Rats once sang.

Reform have no chance of becoming the official opposition so even if they get a decent chunk of votes they'll still be sniping from the sidelines mainly. The danger is that the Tories essentially become Reform to nullify their threat.

Or that they get sufficient seats to prop up a Tory Government that is forced to concede even more to the right to appease them.

That's certainly not going to happen this time around and is very unlikely next time too.

Coming from the poster who the morning after the Brexit vote stated disappointed remain voters were welcome to leave the country if they didn't like it.

This is absolutely at the door of the populist w*nkers that sold the nation a pack of lies for self promotion. Johnson was never a Brexiteer yet saw the opportunity for career enhancement with nil regards for the lasting damage it would do to the country (especially young people's opportunities)

So yeah, for every single Brexiteer who sneered at those of use who called out the bullsh1t 8 years ago - I take shed loads of pleasure in seeing them getting shown up for empty promised w*nkers they were.

Apols if that's a bit harsh but that's how I feel. Every one of them who loses a seat I'll raise a smile and say "good riddance"

(I should add I reserve my contempt for those who campaigned for rather than voted for Brexit)

Did I say that? Certainly don't remember it. Either you are keeping score or you just did some serious digging into the archives....

How certain was it not to happen when May formed a government with the DUP or when Cameron formed one with the LibDems?

It's not going to happen because Reform won't get 10 seats and the Tories might not get 100. Combined they'll be nowhere near being able to form a government.

I hope you are right but all I am saying is that the polls have been a long way out previously, there are boundary changes that will make it more muddled this time and the prediction is for the biggest swing in history. I will believe it when I see it.

In general elections, the polls (or at least some of the polls) aren't usually all that far out. They predicted a landslide for Johnson last time and he got that. The polls showed Labour and the Tories narrowing in 2017 and a couple of polls predicted a hung parliament. All polls are showing massive leads for Labour currently, the chances of a Tory/Reform coalition are somewhere around zero, especially as they are taking votes off each other.

The scenario we are discussing is far less likely than the two examples you cite.

The Tory/Lib Dem example especially - I was baffled that so many thought that was unexpected, given Nick Clegg had said in advance that whichever party had the biggest vote share should have first dibs on any coalition talks. Anyone paying attention could see that coming from a mile off.

That's my memory. Think it just stuck in my mind because I thought it so out of order.

Memory is a funny thing, always amazes me how people can recall goals and scores from matches 20 years ago when I can probably recall only a handful of scores from last year.

Also recall Rommers saying he voted leave but had no real idea why. Guess I was quite vexed at the decision and tbh, remain so given the damage it's done with so few benefits.

Well it doesn't sound like the kind of lame argument I would have used, though I realise others did. So I am going to assume you are confused with somebody else.
