Something that really irritates me 18:10 - Jun 30 with 791 views | Cheltenham_Blue | about England, is what Matterface and Dixon were discussing immediately before half-time. "That England shirt is weighing heavy on these players" WTF does that actually mean, do we honestly think the pressure of playing for Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Switzerland is somehow less pressured than playing for England. Has anyone seen the way Turkish fans treat their players? It's an excuse, and nothing more. Offside.

That’s mental. It’s not exactly a finely tailored Italian suit, it’s just a t shirt knocked out for about 2 quid in a sweatshop.
Something that really irritates me on 18:50 - Jun 30 with 581 views | stonojnr | its a fair point, as they explained, these are top professional players, they arent inexperienced at this level, and yet they seem incapable of playing even a simple form of football, for some inexplicable reason in this tournament, its not down to the coach telling them to play this way, they know where the goal is, they know they need to put the ball in the net to win, why arent they doing more of that ? they seem scared of making a mistake. Kane said it the other day he didnt know when to press, thats a remarkable thing for a player like him to say, its instinct, youre not waiting to be told when to press or at what moment to press, at this level its instinct, you go when youve got the ball and can attack, just like he does for Bayern Munich. so it can only be the pressure of what the players feel playing for England expects or demands from them, and they arent able to cope with it in the same way other teams players can, its something teams post World cup win had to deal with in the 70s/80s, where the fear of playing for England came from not being able to live up to that success but we havent seen this affecting England teams for a while, it just seems to be back with a vengence this tournament.

Amazed more wasnt made of that. A professional like Kane saying he did not know what his role was to be, is a damning indictment of the manager.

On reflection- perhaps it just exemplifies how coaching has moved on since Southgate last managed at club level. Players are now used to plans, and information about where to be, how to react to different situations, where their team mates will be, who triggers the press, where they will and wont, which opponents they will agressively press against, which they let have the ball etc etc Seemingly none of that happens in this England camp. Gareth has been left behind.
