I’m ready for the down votes…
Is he going to be strong enough to be a nailed on starter every game next year? I want him to be and I want him to seize his chance, but I do have some question marks…
1. The press from PL teams will be much faster and much more intense. I don’t think we’ll see him getting the ball from goalkicks on the edge of our D and turning g his man quite so often. We were caught out a few times last season when the press was really intense so won’t be able to afford that next year.
2. Will any of his yellows turn to red with VAR? We all know he’s fantastic at treading a fine line, but there’s been a few times in the last three seasons where VAR woukd have had him walking.
3. PL central midfielders have an incredible engine on them. Morsy is no slouch, but he does lack a bit of pace which coukd lead to us being overrun if not careful. Maybe a more athletic partner for him will cover for this?
He’s our captain and I want him to thrive. But I don’t think we should be blind to the fact he might not start every game again….

Probably not, but something tells me he'll play most.
Key will be to find a suitable partner for him to eventually replace Luongo (I can see SM and ML starting the first game). |  |

I will be very proud when I see our L1 players lining up against opposition players this season. They might be starters or finishers but they've deserved a shot and maybe a few will surprise us. Chaplin comes to mind. Such a lovely fella but they will all need to raise their game and I bet they can't wait. |  |

Yes, I think he'll be fine. I don't think midfield of Mass and Morsy will be fine though. I think it will be Morsy plus one or potentially two depending on if we sometimes play three midfielders. |  | | |
