Optus sport 21:09 - Jul 2 with 4118 viewsmichaeldownunder

I have just seen a deal of about 15 pounds a month for Prem league games here in Oz. Does anyone have any experience with their coverage of live football. Town TV, judging on what I have been informed, are not going to be able to show any Town games live now we are in the Prem. Good deal ?

I've subscribed to watch the Euros ... coverage is excellent. Also they had a Special Offer of $50 per quarter that I took advantage of.

Can't remember for sure but it may have only been available in June. Thought at the time that maybe they wanted those that wanted to subscribe for the Euros to stick around for longer.

Thanks for the link, although it only seems to be available if you pay with a credit card. The only AUS$ payment option I have is with apple pay via the app, and it doesn’t give that option - only the monthly payment.

The issue isn’t the payment currency (I already have a bank account that supports multi currency, due to international travel), but the billing address being verified as in Oz. As far as I can see, as with many of these multi currency cards, your billing address has to be in your main country of residence.

Or maybe I’m missing something with the Wise card? Their website does suggest that you have to verify your main residence with proof of identity, and permanent rather than temporary residency.

Yeah Optus is pretty good. Every single premier league match live and on instant demand with the ability to turn off the scores. Some decent premier league shows, previews, highlights plus others. Has a libary of archived matches as well.

Also every match of la liga live and on instant demand. Highlights, previews, news and talk shows.

J Leage 4 matches a week, can catch some half decent games which are worth a watch. Also some k League matches.

International matches as well although i dont really pay much attention unless its a big tournament but pretty sure all qualifiers from Europe on live and demand. Currently every match at Euros and Copa America.

They've just secured FA Cup rights for next season too.

I had a look at it.

Looked to me that just to register you need an Australian phone number for verification . .

$6.99 (Australian dollars) a month for Optus mobile customers like me 🥳

That’s about £4 a month.

Looks like I won’t be subscribing to Town TV this year.

Registering is easy, as you say. A verification code is sent to my Australian mobile, and you have an active account. This I have.

That gets you an active account, and allows access to free content (such as yesterday’s Austria Euro game, which I watched). However, when you go to set up a paid subscription via the website (where I see the special quarterly price), the only payment option is a credit/debit card, and that requires a card with a local billing address to be entered. It won’t proceed if you don’t enter an address, and if you try a card issued in a different county, it refuses and says you must use a card with an Australian billing address.

I’ve tried a few times, and it seems completely blocked to me :-(

As you say, it requires an Australian phone number to register. It won’t accept any country code.

That counts anybody without an Australian number out from the off.

And even if you have an Australian mobile, as I do, that only allows you to create an account and access free content. For access to the offer, which is only available when adding a subscription via the website, you then have to have a card payment method with an Australian billing address

Unless I'm missing something. I'm likely to just subscribe using Apple Pay via the iPad app, which only offers the one subscription option, at $24.99 monthly. It's still good value, but not as good at the quarterly special offer, or the annual option available via the website.

It all sounds to complicated. I think I will just stick to avoiding the score and watching the full match replay on Town TV.

I have just signed up, 50 Oz dollars for three months (aprox 30 UK PDS). Easy to do, even for an old duffer like me !!! but I do live Nr. Brisbane so no location problems when putting my info.
