I am very confused by a fruit 08:01 - Jul 19 with 1049 views

I suppose I shouldn't be TOO surprised that a fruit ripens but I saw an article on the Beeb that talks about how to store cucumbers. It says to leave it out of the fridge until it ripens.
What on earth is the difference between a ripe and unripe cucumber?

Have I been eating unripe cucumbers my whole life?

Is a cucumber just a very unripe banana?

I am a people confused.

A cucumber is a fruit, whereas a banana is a berry. Hope that helps.

A berry is also a fruit.
So they are both fruits.

I opened this thread with a mild curiosity but now I am fully invested and need answers.

I can't blame you, I genuinely didn't know there was this level of complexity with cucumbers. I must admit I am genuinely getting into these matters as my mum always over produces on her veggie garden and am going to start doing some pickling for winter to save waste.
