Favourite Suffolk Sports ground 12:27 - Aug 5 with 3879 views | judespiveyg | Little lunch break thread... What are the nicest/your favourite sports grounds in Suffolk? (Other than PR obvs). Have played a lot of football and cricket (plus golf if you want to include that), so have seen a lot of what the county has to offer, or at least the eastern part. My personal favs: Yoxford Cricket Club - small but lovely on a summer day with the view over the fields (plus its fun to aim for the trees) Dennington Football Ground - not sure anyone plays there anymore, but has direct access to a pub garden and the village church overlooks the ground. Woodbridge Cricket Club - Even though its in Campsea Ashe, certainly a nice spot for cricket on Ashe Park. [Post edited 5 Aug 2024 12:29]

Makes promotion quite a challenge. We usually lose the odd game unexpectedly as well, but even at division six level there are enough decent individuals to be match winners and makes winning enough games to achieve promotion very difficult. We'll keep trying though. |
Brightlingsea were Div One/Two but have reformed, must be a while since they have been in those top leagues now You currently have IpsCol working their way up the leagues and Bardwell and Chappel and Wakes have been doing similar

That's right, we actually beat Chappel away a couple of years ago but both they and Bardwell are heading for promotion from division four this year. We need a season without an upwardly mobile team.

It will be IpsCol who are the next super club really, they have plans for 3 pitches believe it or not when they do find their permanent ground They have sides in the Two Counties and some of the Chelmsford based leagues I believe and already have ECB Clubmark status which is insane for a club as young as them At least you'll only have one of those to deal with, it looks like Boxted will miss out on promotion, they were in Div 5 a long time but folded a little while ago too There's one or two in the Div 8's who will work themselves up a few divisions [Post edited 6 Aug 2024 8:00]

As a member of the team currently propping up that division, that doesn't sound so bad right now.

Favourite Suffolk Sports ground on 13:08 - Aug 5 by woodbridge_blue | Lot of very nice cricket grounds in Suffolk. Our home ground at Melton St Audry's is decent, near to us Easton, Worlingworth and Sudbourne Hall are all picturesque, but the most "village" ground surely has to be my former ground at Fishpond Meadow, Waldringfield. Anyone else played there? |
I've played at Fishpond Meadow, Waldringfield many times over the years. Many Evening League matches for Martlesham against Waldringfield through the 90's and then for Waldringfield when the teams amalgamated. Although its a lovely small ground it was never the easiest place to bat. Always liked Easton as a village ground. Especially before it was developed and the pitch turned around. Thurston was another ground in a really nice setting.
