“Precious” by asking a question? Given it’s been quite widely reported that Ioannidis would favour moves to Sporting Lisbon, or Bologna over us, I thought it was a valid question.

As people have added, there must be some indication that he would come here, but seems a risky approach to me, anyway.

To be fair, if you had no connection to Ipswich, and the other options were 4 years in the cities of Lisbon or Bologna, both of clubs offer stability in their country's top league & European football, what do you think you'd choose?
He's Greek, so the cold, win & rain of an English winter would not seem very appealing to him. Also, at his age, he'd have no memory/awareness of our history as a top club.

Don’t disagree with anything you’ve said, which is why I started my first post on his thread with “you can’t blame him”

Loads of players end up at places that aren't their first choice, but as long as a good pro it doesn't really matter - the problem comes when you waste energy on players who aren't going to be able to got over the line and you'd assume we aren't (continuing) to do that and either the offer has just been left on the table and nothing is happening or we have signs that we might be able to get it done

First few weeks of Morsy being here he had the demeanour of someone who wanted to be anywhere else.

But he was a consummate pro, played superbly and is now forever a club legend.

Lisbon is one of the best cities in the world, and if you check out the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Youtube it looks like and amazing place to play football with 50k fans. So it's easy to see why that is his 1st choice. BUT....
28 mill v 20 mill - if Sporting aren't gonna up their offer, that gap is just too big. So I can see that the Premier League riches could again come into play, and even though we are a newly promoted team, we could outbid Sporting and get this over the line. I certainly hope so as Fotis looks to be a perfect fit for us. CF or Left wing attacker. He'd start every game. Bring him over here Mr Ashton and get it done.

Poll: would you rather

Not specifically directed at you. More of a general comment to things seen in recent weeks. E.g. on comments of the o'shea link as well as Fortis. Childish comments like "who?", "his loss", "forget him and move on" etc when a player isn't immediately "Ipswich first at all costs" despite them not having any affiliation with our club and it being their career.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?
