Last week i didn't think we needed a new CB 23:44 - Aug 22 with 1106 viewsBondiBlue

Now i do just to keep up with the quality of the rest of the squad. Blimey what a window. There's a wonderful australian expression that's very appropriate here: we're not here to f* ck spiders.

An entire new starting eleven. Phenomenal. I’m sure Davis, Morsy, Hutchinson, Burns and others will play a lot of games, but this is an amazing upgrade of our squad.

I guess it had to be to give us a chance, but I’m still pretty stunned.

It is obviously part and parcel of being a player/athlete, but I do wonder how it makes someone feel when it's very obvious your employer is bringing in someone perceived to be beyond your own ability, or able to do something it's perceived you can't.

I imagine it is similar to how you feel when your children start to beat you.

Sounds grim. As a punishment or just for fun?

It is an interesting topic but as most of these players will have been in the game since academy level, I’m sure they’re all aware the sharks are always circling. And if you’re someone like Freddie, he’s probably smiling and happily cashing his 10k a week.

Thanks to the big subs benches (is it 9 players?) And 5 changes in the prem, the players that got us here will play a bit in the prem. Tuanzebe was prefered to johnson in the first game, for example.

On the flip side, as a few have been pointing out recently, if you're massimo luongo, you've gone from being on the verge of binning off english football to go home to the a-league and semi-retirement to starting every week for 18 months and reaching the prem (and earning a tidy wage doing so). Mass will get games over the next few months while the new guys settle in and i doubt he will complain. Cam burgess had a great season last year and if he decides he wants to leave for first team football, it's reasonable to expect it will be to a top-half championship side as a starter. Burns, chaplin, broadhead, hirst etc will all play decent amounts of football this year and edmondson, harness and taylor would have been backups if we'd stayed down after not having much impact last year. I don't anyone will be complaining much and i'm sure the club will be fair and not stand in the way of anyone who wants to go.
