Broja move in danger of collapsing on 12:11 - Aug 24 by PioneerBlue | Sounds like the deal started with contract terms to be agreed next summer as a way of pushing the loan and difficult discussions to next summer but perhaps expectation with the obligation to buy was to sort that in advance and that’s where there is misalignment on future wage level. For us he’s achieved nothing and he should prove / earn that wage level rather than be given before anything is delivered. All about certainty of the deal - I’m guessing massively. If his representatives feel they can negotiate better wages elsewhere before he’s delivered anything good for them, he’s not for us. This could go full circle of course once all options have been assessed but isn’t sounding promising this morning. |
The Chelsea supporting friend I have, and no I wouldn't name him a ITK but he does get some info which has turned out to be correct in the past, has said... Broja ideally just wanted a season loan, wasn't totally comfortable with committing to Town, although he understands that did [slightly] change over the last few days. The medical did highlight something, while not serious it did result in Town wanting changes made against the obligation to buy (he didnt have the details). Broja would also have to take a pay cut if he joined Ipswich at the end of the season (not sure of the actual differences). In the original verbal agreement with Chelsea, they had been prepared to 'pay off' some of Broja's contract to mitigate the loss in wages. But because of the restructuring of the deal Ipswich wanted with Chelsea as a result of the medical, while Chelsea accepted that, they removed the 'pay off' offer and Broja reps have pushed back on Town's offer when the obligation to buy is invoked. He also heard that ultimately, it still keeps going back to Broja's uncertainty about joining Town long term, and the 'differences' is being used as an excuse, which equals stalemate. Although he was tlalso told its thought it would still be completed because Chelsea want him out, so it's play at Ipwich or sit in the Chelsea stands until Jan

All sounds plausible and consistent with the way the deal has played out publically. It is right that the ITFC leadership do what they feel they are comfortable with as the facts present themselves but given there is a lot riding on future performance it’s even more important that all parties are bought into the deal.

It's never "felt" right really. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be.

Kind of agree. From a distance, it doesn't feel right and don't get the impression this lad really wants to buy into us. But we could all be wrong and on a personal level he could be onboard with the club and all this saga could be giving of false bad vibes. I do hope, though, that if the club has an uneasy gut feeling about this that they'll pull the plug and move on. So much of our success is down to having a tight-knit group and if someone doesn't want all-in, then adios.

It sounds very plausible and with him seemingly not fully bought into the project anyway, think the best thing would be to move on.
