Ladapo - contract terminated? 21:16 - Aug 27 with 8737 views | MillsTash | Deleted all his Town instagram posts on his account and posted some private 1-1 coaching today. Mutually terminated to get a better move as a free agent maybe?
Ladapo - contract terminated? on 00:45 - Aug 28 with 1891 views | Whos_blue | Be a shame if true. Whilst most observers would agree he is a little way off the standard we're looking for, he'll still be well remembered as one of those who put us here. Just disapointed he couldn't join someone from us, rather than having to leave to find another team. Good luck to the lad. [Post edited 28 Aug 2024 8:03]

Ladapo - contract terminated? on 08:00 - Aug 28 with 1704 views | OldFart71 | We have heard from McKenna that all the players are regularly spoken to about their futures. Those I suggest that are new in will have the requirements to the team explained. Those maybe going on loan, sold or having contracts terminated the chat will be about their options. Unfortunately not all will be happy about this and may feel their contributions over the past two seasons are being overlooked. The sad fact is and whether we feel for them this is and always has been football. Maybe more ruthless, but what type of work isn't more ruthless now. We also have to take into consideration Gamechanger. They are ploughing huge sums of money into the club with as we know the ultimate aim to make money. Not an easy process as the previous owner found out. Gamechanger also went above and beyond to keep our manager, therefore more pressure on Kieran to produce the goods.

I don’t understand why footballers and in fact anyone in the public eye bothers with social media. The downside/aggro always seems to outweigh anything worthwhile. But then I’m an old git so what do I know?

I love it when they put normal stuff on (wolfie for example - photos/videos of his dogs, or a trip to Disneyland with the family) nice normal stuff. But photos of themselves with inspiring quotes - boring

Isn't the TWTD forum an instance of social media ? It's been around since before Facebook and Twitter but it is an online place where people who wouldn't know each other if they passed in the street interact. I suppose the difference is that we are never fractious here and we all live in peace and harmony. Don't believe me ? We happily accept Giant Stow, tolerate Yoda and even find Yellowrider amusing. I rest my case.... As far as Ladapo goes I won't believe his contract has been terminated until we hear from Phil, he might just have answered 'yes' to a sudden prompt that he should have answered 'no' to and then answered 'yes' again when he should have answered 'no' to 'are you sure ?' Would be great to see him start in the forward position tonight.

McKenna's comment last Thursday seemed surprisingly blasé, and not really in line with what he said a couple of days ago. "Striker Freddie Ladapo appears to be one of those who will move on on a permanent basis, while other players could depart on loan. “I’d imagine so, we’ve not spent too much time having those discussions yet as a club,” when asked about exits of those on the fringes.""

Yep. And you are right, but if I was a footballer or famous in any way, I wouldn’t get involved with forums either. But since I’m an absolute nobody, I can and do. Having worked with the internet in its early years, being reasonably tech savvy and curious, I sign up for these things, take a look and decide. That includes Twitter/x, Facebook, instagram, linked in, you name it. I guess I’m still registered with most of them, but unlike Mrs C who loves Twitter/x it’s not something I take much interest in. Each to their own and one of the beauties of it is that’s evolving/new stuff is emerging all the time. Bit like foreign food, I’d always advocate trying stuff and then deciding. But if I was a known person/footballer, I would be very careful or swerve it. Ladapo? Agreed. When it’s official it’ll be true. Assuming it is, I hope he finds a good club. He deserves it. I thought he might do well at Charlton, but last season they had their own problems and maybe it was just the wrong club. I too like the contributions from our three canary friends.

The way you quoted that is a bit misleading. "Striker Freddie Ladapo appears to be one of those who will move on on a permanent basis, while other players could depart on loan" is what TWTD wrote, whereas McKenna does not refer to any particular player. I think players are always kept informed of how they are viewed by the club. Until nearly the end of the window it is difficult to know which fringe players will still be required, so they may not have had specific conversations.

McKenna is very loyal to players and gives them every chance whilst the transfer window is closed and whilst the player is in contract KM uses him where necessary. For whatever reason Ladapo just lost confidence. His finishing was much worse last season, but he didn't suddenly become a bad player. Sudden success means that players get left behind who could have made the step up. I really think Ladapo has the ability to be a Championship player. He did get eclipsed by Hirst, but Ladapo was outstanding in League One.

I still feel that it was odd at this stage of the window to say that they haven't given much thought to who will be leaving and where they might go.
