Worrying... on 08:32 - Aug 29 by FrimleyBlue | POB, not sure why you're referring to the opening 15 minutes as a sign that the rest of the game should have been easy. For me, Wimbledon were quite open at the beginning, so we didn't have to do much to get in, when you look at the Johnson, Ogbene balls for example, Wimbledon were all over the place. Once they got organised you're then at the stage where you need to play well to break them down, and this is where we went into a shell a bit. You could see some lofted balls which in time will look like excellent placed passes, but 1 - Al hamadi didn;t read them, and a few went over for Townsend and he had actually starting moving backwards instead. All these things will improve in time. You speak of the unit, we remained a unit throughout, it was well organised, the problem was players didn't understand their roles with a fair number of our attacking phases of play, chaplin was looking for an on running ogbene, who wasn't there. Clarke was needing an overlap which never came. Townsend put in some crosses to players who hadn't made the box etc etc. I've never seen so many lofted crosses into the box, that's not ipswich, we don't loft balls into the box. It needed it for us to get that 2nd goal so of course its helpful, but it's not very ipswich like at all during normal minutes of play. |
Second post by you that's been reasoned and pragmatic. Impressed. To everyone else, if Frimmers is behaving like this and you're actually upset by last night, then I suggest you have a little sit down lol!

I agree with most of what you say there apart from the well-organised part. I thought defensively we were all over the place, especially with set pieces. I don't think we should be too concerned about that though, considering most of that team has never played together and some have barely even trained together it's not too surprising!

There wasn't anything wrong with the set pieces in how we set up, it was pretty normal town, Burges was either fouled ( im still unsure on this ) for the first one, and was no where near the 2nd, that's on him as both were his balls to head I wouldn't say we were disorganised though.
