With one lane, westbound, closed until further notice it is going to cause chaos in Town.
Even in a Sunday morning both Google maps, and my Sat Nav, are recommending travelling via Town centre rather than using the bridge.
Looking into the future there has to be concerns about the life expectancy of the bridge. Before the new section of A14 in Cambridgeshire was opened the old A14 included a viaduct at Huntingdon. This was opened in 1975 and was demolished after the new road opened as it had reached the end of it life.
Hopefully our local MPs are on the case as it takes years to plan and construct new roads. |  |

Having the same conversation with my wife funny enough.
I’m on a 3pm finish this week, so getting there at 3.15 doing 45-60mins… sacking off the shower to get on the road asap.
Tonight wasn’t too bad getting away (1635 I left) joined the traffic at the thrasher roundabout and pissed through.
She, however, is finishing about 5pm… and I’ve had to best advise that she misses it! Would take easily an hour to get there from IP5 |  |

Was told this afternoon that replacement parts are being manufactured in Germany. Westbound carriageway will be fully closed overnight, on both Tuesday & Wednesday, and road fully re-opened Friday morning.
Can't provide a link, as can't find one, but would be a daft thing for someone to make up so tend to believe it. Does fit in with date given by BL.
Guess we should be happy but how many joints are there that could fail in the same wat? | |
