Yes he was, in his autobiography he writes that he was very keen to get the job and was interviewed for it. When Magic got the job, he asked Sheepshanks what counted against him in the interview so he could learn moving forward. Sheepshanks said he'd impressed them highly but he had concentrated too much on what he'd achieved so far in his career and not enough on what he knew of Town and its playing squad etc. Met Ollie couple of years back in the directors box (birthday treat from my daughter) when we played Plymouth.Absolute gentleman.
