The eight England withdrawals... 11:38 - Nov 15 with 1296 views | Zx1988 | Assuming they're not all injured, I assume that the FA/UEFA will be making them unavailable for selection for their clubs' next games? Or does that only apply to smaller clubs?

The eight England withdrawals... on 12:14 - Nov 15 with 1173 views | Radlett_blue | That only applies if the national association cries "foul" & for a glorified friendly match (which is all the Nations League is IMO) I doubt an association will kick off. The reality is that national associations need to keep good relations with the clubs, or else there will be more withdrawals. IMO, the big problem is the proliferation of international football, tournaments every summer etc plus the idiotic Club World Cup, but this is all part of the battle for control of the game between UEFA/FIFA & the big European clubs.

The eight England withdrawals... on 12:41 - Nov 15 with 1087 views | Basuco | It depends on the extent of their injury, as we have seen with a few players they can still play with a minor injury, but if it is not an important game then they will not take part. England V Greece was always going to be an easy victory so I am not surprised a few dropped out. Also the Nations League is just a series of friendly games anyway so it is good to try out a few players to see how they are at that level.

10th October - England 1 Greece 2. So yesterday's game was sure to be an "easy victory"? However, I agree that the Nations League is a series of glorified friendly games, so I don't blame players for dropping out of these games, especially if they are from ITFC.

The eight England withdrawals... on 14:05 - Nov 15 with 912 views | Garv | Why should players feel forced to make themselves available, or be punished if they don't? Massimo Luongo made himself unavailable for Aus while we were fighting for promotion last year. I don't think anyone had any issues with that at the time did they? All it means is new and younger players get a chance when they might not have otherwise.

But then he did it the 'right' way by announcing his retirement, rather than (potentially) just saying that he didn't really fancy it on that particular occasion. Morsy went down the route of saying he didn't want to be called up, and for a while it was suggested that Egypt might just call him up out of spite in order to be able to ask FIFA to prevent him from playing for Ipswich.

The Australian FA are a bit more laid back than the English FA, who are a self-important bunch of half-wits. It's an honour (obligation) to play for England if selected. The English FA care little for the Fans and only concern themselves with the 30 pieces of corporate silver on offer at every Wembley England game. The Coporates need to be entertained with the best English players for the first half before they vanish into the bars and lounges, and will only take their seats for the second half if prodded.
