Current Situation 08:33 - Dec 4 with 939 viewshype313

With us having one window to transition from league One players into the PL was always going to be a mountain to climb, add in the lack of experience, you can't learn on the job in this league and you get punished.

Lets hope we can still be in the mix come January as we do seem to have a Lazarus effect in the second part of the season and add a few additions we might have a punchers chance.

FWIW, I always felt it was a stretch to stay up from day one, but we have been competitive in the main, and MCK has a knack of finding ways to overcome obstacles.

I have faith in this team as a collective, whether that's enough to stay up is open for discussion, but I don't have that feeling of inevitability like I've had in previous relegation battles in our history.

We signed quite a few players in League 1, many of whom had more Championship experience than League 1 experience. They all then spent a year in the Championship, finishing second.

We didnt have any 'League 1' players at the start of the season, but we did have a squad full of Championship level players.

Its a bit misleading to say we had to transition from L1 to PL in one transfer window.

People seem to be missing the point that staying up this season would be an even bigger achievement than the double promotion was in the first place.

People dismiss talk of a free hit as defeatist, but this season is as close to one as you'll ever see - no-one expected us to be in the Prem so soon.

If we go down, we go down.... but we will be all the stronger as a club for the one season in the Prem to make an attempt on going back up and staying for longer - more than one club in recent seasons has taken a couple of relegations and promotions before they could consolidate in the Prem.

Fair point, but Chappers, Broady, Davis, Morsy, Wes were all playing in League One and are still playing regular minutes.

Our rise has meant we haven't been able to transition as quickly with the players we have at our disposal.

No one was disappointed we got back to back promotions, but as I said in my OP, it was always going to be a tall order given the quickness of our ascendancy.

They were, but Chappers, Broady and Morsy dropped down to L1 from the Championship, they werent exactly seasoned L1 players.

Burns was a bit different.

And they all had a full season back in the Champ.

It has been a quick rise and transition though.

I think most people knew it would be a huge ask to stay up.

For me I don't expect us to stay up, but I do expect us to be battling to the last few games of the season.

The important thing is to stay in touch with those above then try and push on through the back straight of the season like we've managed to in the previous two.

My main concern with that really is how hard it might be to attract the level of player necessary to accomplish that in a January window where we're at best going to be about level with the bottom 3 if not in it. Loans probably our best bet but can only have 1 from the Prem and will have to hope our non-UK scouting network has been busy.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
