McKenna 14:37 - Dec 4 with 928 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | Has and forever will have my upmost trust and faith. One thing that I’ve always said sets him apart is his balance between his ‘principles’ and his ‘ability to adapt’ as he’s continually made minor changes to patterns, shapes etc. over past couple of seasons to keep us competitive, whilst still playing largely the same way with the same philosophy. That said, a lot of matches this season we’ve made subs that are ‘like for like’ in terms of positions and we don’t ever really look to go far from the 4231 when we’re at home and ‘having a go’ (this could be down to personnel) I do wonder if or when (if ever) McKenna may look to transition into some other systems. We’ve seen Johnson & Tuanzebe utilised effectively to give us options for 5 at the back out of possession, so there are tweets that have and can be made to the 4231 to make us competitive for specific opponents and threats I’m not advocating the ‘2 up top’ mantra but I do wonder if McK will have a shuffle and possibly use our wide players wider or put 3 in midfield at some point
McKenna on 15:01 - Dec 4 with 800 views | homer_123 | I think 'we' get caught up in formations and systems. How we setup is already fluid. Attacking wise - we see Davis move forward and beyond the wide left player, the defender shuffling across to create a back 3. 3-2-4-1 - if you like. In fact, on occasions (though not so much this season), we have seen both full backs bomb forward and then the two central midfields drop closer to the two centre backs. 2-2-5-1 - if you like. Last night, we saw Delap drop into the midfield to deny space to Palace, overloading the midfield. I've also seen us with 5 at the back with Burns becoming a full back and Clarke tucking in. 4-2-3-1 under KM isn't rigid, it's incredibly fluid. You are right, in that the personnel changes are 'like for like' but there is a reason for it - it's about knowing the system, the patterns of play - how we approach games. That's why we have been so effective. I have no issue with how we play or line up or the approach we have to games. At the moment, due to injury and the fact that we are developing a L1/ Champ squad into a Prem squad - we lack a little bit of quality in places. Take Axel - a player with Prem experience and the difference you see when he's not playing. At the moment, it's about improving that quality more than tweaking the system.

McKenna on 16:27 - Dec 4 with 604 views | GreenEye | Heretical to say it, but I have been surprised at some of the team selections recently. I think we're burning Delap and he needs company up front. Omari plays better if Smod and/or Chaplin are on the pitch as well. Some will know I'm an Ali fan and the groans last night turned to cheers when he did some good stuff from the moment he came on. (Phew!) As others have said, we fought back every time we went behind last season, but last night and against Forest, the shoulders slumped. It's a simple game in the PL. Take your chances and don't make mistakes, but easier to say that from the stands. On the good side, we've been in every game except WHU & Citeh and got mugged by Palace, Brentford & Leicester. We have the players and I still think we're good for 15th
