Newcastle in white and green 09:14 - Dec 22 with 895 viewsMark

Newcastle have always played in black and white stripes at Portman Road as far as I can remember. Green and white are the colours of Saudi Arabia. It didn't feel right to me. I prefer teams to wear their traditional colours wherever possible.

Camouflage to make them look like and blend in with the grass & white lines. And it worked, that's why the Town players gave them so much space.

The game has sold its soul to the devil. It seems pretty easy to mandate a first team strip, a change strip for clashes and a third strip for ripping off the fans. You play in the first team strip unless it clashes. But money talked and we're now stuck with it. I would have loved to see Newcastle in their stripes. Bah humbug.

It’s not ripping anyone Off to be fair, it’s extra revenue, and no One has to buy it, it’s great to see so many people Out wearing all The different town shirts.

Sorry I perhaps didn't quite make the point. For teams like Newcastle or say Wolves there's very little need to ever change. But it is true that the game now montetises shirts. We've done exactly that ourselves. So if I don't get to see the teams play in their first choice strip then I feel cheated. Ripped off may have been to strong a phrase. But I'd like to have watched Newcastle in their stripes. Call me old fashioned.

The post match comment by Howe about Sir Bobby would have appreciated how both teams played. My first thought was he wouldn’t have approved of their kit.
