You could look at it the other way though:
Perhaps we were good enough to finish higher than the Leicester or Everton who compiled with the spending rules or we would have been good enough to finish above them if we also broke the rules but nobody is punished.
This is where being able to observe the multiverse, if it exists, would be helpful.

Not just a technicality though is it, they cheated to gain advantage over us & other clubs.
