People are missing the FFP aspect to this which could be the major point.
As has been reported on another thread Swiss Ramble have us with just 2 million headway , Wolfenden as an academy product brings pure profit when sold , the same as Omari did for Chelsea and the players that Newcastle sold in the summer to Forest and Brighton that Eddie Howe openly said he didn’t want to sell but was forced to , just to meet FFP rules.
Therefore if we are close on FFP, then selling Wolfy ( and possibly Cam H or Baggott in years to come) allows the club more flex on incoming players and deals. If we want to strengthen ( which pretty much everyone agrees we need to do) then we also have to play by the finance rules sadly. |
