Can't see it.

I know he's been forced out the team for parts of this season but that's partly just a reflection of how good O'Shea has been, and bar Morsy and Leif he's played the most games under McKenna (I think). Plus he's back in the side right now.

Godfrey will take time to get up to speed, and we know Tuanzebe has a slightly scratchy fitness history. If it's Woolfenden pushing for a move then maybe, but I'd be surprised if that was the case.

What’s a realistic fee for him? 8million?

That's the one thing I'm pondering - if he does go, will we then be looking to bring someone else in at CB?

Yep. The 3 CBs formation is really working and, we can still score goals. Chelsea and Fulham couldn't find a way through (Fulham relying on individual errors). Why change that?

Comes from a close family, loves living locally with his young family and dogs I'd be very surprised if he was to leave.

Neither O'Shea, Greaves or Burgess have Luke's capabilities as a ball player.

IMO Godfrey is here as a cover RB as Axel is an injury risk and H Clarke not up to PL standard unfortunately.

Personally think he is no more than just ok and would not be surprised if he moved on as club need better to progress . Having said that he is a massive part of the team spirit and group togetherness to get us where we are now.

If we got that sort of money, I can see why we would make the decision to sell. I am a huge Woolfy fan and think he's hugely underrated, but as crass as it sounds, ultimately it will come down to a business decision. Would be the first 'player trading' decision a chunk of the fan base don't like.

I’d be surprised if it was even anywhere near half of that, and that’s one of many reasons that I’d be really sad if he goes. A very good player for us and one who makes our playing out from the back tick, with the obvious bonus of being an Ipswich youth.

In a world where we are probably >60% of the time going to be back in the championship next season it would seem a bad call to ship out a player that we’d love to have again at that level for a fee for which we probably wouldn’t be able to easily replace him for in the summer.

Given that it seems Tuanzebe is returning to the kind of reliability fitness-wise he had in his pre-Town career, I think that getting rid of Woolfenden is a bad idea.

I'm also still unconvinced that Greaves is better than him.

Perfectly understandable that he'd like more game time and if he's prepared to move to get that then we shouldn't stand in his way.

Unpopular but if we're serious about really progressing the squad over the next 1-3 years then he's in the tier of players that will have to be moved on. Sad to see him go, but that's life

McKenna clearly thinks he needs to upgrade Wolfie, given he's signed 3 CBs since we were promoted. He has stepped up well and I'll be sad to see him go as he's the only academy player in the team, but KM knows exactly what we need.

Yep, not much room for sentiment in the premiership.

Greaves being left footed doesn't make him a comparison to Wolfy, it's a different position and KM won't see it like that either.

Three weeks ago, I think a decent SUFC offer coming in would probably have been accepted. Now, with LW in the side, I'm less sure. Am thinking if anything happens it might be a late window deal or perhaps one which ultimately happens in the summer.

If true I think some forget that KM basically saved Woolfy from going when he came here. He was on his way out. I'm trying not to be harsh, but would Woolfy be in the team without a change of system and injuries ? and now Ben Godfrey has come in he will cover both Tuanzebe and CB positions. I agree he's been o.k. but I think both Greaves and O'shea are better. Added to this if the squad is to be upgraded probably by four players then four have to be removed from the squad. Presumably Ogbene will be de-listed, Al Hamadi loaned or sold. So that leaves two more to be loaned or moved on.

Stats don’t work for centre backs as so much of their work is off the ball

You can't compare the left footed centre backs to the right footed one's. McKenna likes to have the balance there.

What you can compare is the options we have and the pecking order. With a fully fit selection, a back 4 probably shapes up like this.

RB: Tuanzebe / Godfrey / Johnson / Clarke
CB: O'Shea / Godfrey / Woolfenden
CB: Greaves / Burgess
LB : Davis / Townsend

In a back 5 shape we have adopted recently, based on current availability then

RWB: Johnson / Burns
RCB: O'Shea / Godfrey
CB: Woolfenden / O'Shea
LCB: Greaves / Burgess
LWB: Davis / Townsend

You could argue that with Godfrey now here, it might see O'Shea go centrally and Woolfenden pushed back out. He does only have 6 months left on his contract with a club option. Perhaps we are waiting to see what league we are in before advancing with a new contract, as I don't think we'd hold on to O'Shea if we went down, but if we stay up, then I think Woolfenden's time would be over.

I disgree, as a defender if you're not winning balls in the air or winning ground duals then it's not great
