Appreciate the opposition wasn’t much, but he was showing signs that he’s comfortable getting forward to support in attack.
My first thoughts on him (when he signed) was he was very much defensive minded, but clearly not the case.
Big old boy too int he, adds that needed physical presence in our team/squad

We’ll be good again... one day

He is an impressive athlete for sure. Which I still think we need to keep adding the squad. Especially when you see some of the units we go up against.

The issue with Godfrey has just always been that he is prone to having some brain farts at crucial times. But that was at Everton, which just seems to be a club where people go and never get any better. Think he is someone Mckenna will look at think he can really work with and develop.

Looks like a Premier League footballer doesn't he - 6ft+, strong, quick and all the rest.

A couple of loose moments where he just kicked the ball straight forward as it arrived to him rather than taking a touch or passing, but that's hopefully just rustiness.

Didn't get out of 2nd gear yesterday but he's tidy. 100 odd Premier League appearances and still only 26. As you say, he's a big unit too and athletic, he's the perfect profile for that role and a definite upgrade on the boy Clarke. If we can get Axel back fit then those 2 should be able to fight it out for that position, freeing up O'Shea to move back into the middle, with Greaves on the left of the 3.

Johnson / Burns right, Davis left, Cajuste & Phillips in the middle. Philogene & Hutchinson behind Delap.

Naughty.

Solid signing, cultured footballer and absolutely rapid!

Apparently was faster than Anthony Gordon at Everton.

Just hope he stays fit.

Possibly put Wes Burns back in the managers thinking as I would be inclined to play Ben Johnson right midfield in front of Godfrey.

Played very well looks a ready made, up to speed worthy addition to the squad. He was up to marking their biggest cb when they had corners, took no nonsense...

Wasn’t his ability to take the ball on runs out of defence into attack, a feature of his game at scumville? I know I actually thought he was a very good player when he was with them, but being blue to the bone, would never admit that. Not sure what the deal might be for him after this season, but I think he’d be a very good acquisition.
