Away team Autographs 11:43 - Jan 15 with 1965 viewsjoshITFCporter

Is there anywhere after the game now to go and get autographs for the away team, e.g. where they get on the coach?

I recall like 15 years ago you could queue at the back of the Sir Alf stand after the game, but assume that's no longer the case.

The reason I ask is that one of my Paraguayan friends is a huge fan of Julio Enciso, and I'd love to be able to get something signed for them

I think the away coach now parks up between the Travelodge and Suffolk County Council offices and the players enter/exit via a designated gate between the SAR and West Stand.

Yep, the whole area is also completely walled off. No public viewpoints or access whatsoever.

I’ve seen people go to the Pentahotel where the away teams have been staying to get photos and autographs either before they leave for the stadium or when they arrive, only going by photos I’ve seen on socials.

From my room in the travelodge after Palace home game, could see there were Palace fans waiting to get autographs; there’s a closed off walkway at side of hotel.

Prem players need that, in case they get looked at by a home fan and fall to the ground clutching their face.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

There’s being old fashioned and then there’s being ridiculous. If back in the day a Town fan wanted George Best’s etc autographs I bet no one would have thought badly of that particular fan.

I used to collect autographs.

Having got the Ipswich team, I had to look elsewhere to fill up the autograph book.

I ended up with the 1970 Celtic team through my uncle, and the Leeds team of the same vintage through my dad who bumped into them on the train to Ipswich before a game.

But I didn't get that many more, apart from a few through the railings next to the practice pitch.

At the age of 11, I never thought what I was doing indicated I wasn't a true fan of Ipswich not least because I hated Leeds.

Do you think the same when our players ask opposition players to swap shirts at the end of games?

I came on here looking for an answer to this question and it seems I wasn't the only one to ask.

Can you be a bit more specific about where the Palace fans were? If the walkway is closed off how would they have got in? Cheers!

It’s fine for kids. And genuine memorabilia collectors.

It’s a bit weird for grown adults not accompanied by either of the above, but each to their own. I took a photo once of Aguero waiting to come on as a sub

If you’re on the street facing the travelodge, at the left side of the car park there’s a walkway through to near the ground. It’s important to note that on match days they put a barrier up and there’s a steward there. For Palace, there were a couple of kids shouting to get players attention and then the players would come down the walkway and sign autographs.

I observed this from my hotel room window after our rather dismal 0-1 defeat. Foomin, I was.

No one likes losing to Palace.

Cheers. I expect my son will want to do this tomorrow. Good luck for the rest of the season starting Friday.
