Sounds more like the contractual agreement between Villa, Hull and Philogene when he moved to Hull is the problem here. That and Villa's greed. Sounds like he didn't want to go back to Villa in the summer but was forced to as terms were pre-agreed for any return if the matching clause was triggered. Villa clearly just signed him to make some extra coin from another move this window.

It's not any wonder he doesn't seem to have given his all and looked like he hasn't been enjoying his football if this is the case.

It's just another reason why PSR is a load of tosh, Philogene would've come straight to us without PSR and his career would most likely not have stalled for the last 6 months.

Not sure if I'm missing your point, but am sure no player is ever forced - it would have been a choice.

Definitely his agent being a knob then.

Would love it if a journo at the presser said or asked exactly this

Sounds like it was pre-agreed when he signed his Hull contract, so had no choice but to go back to Villa, if they wanted him.

It's conjecture from me but it sounds like he didn't have the choice at that point, he did when he signed for Hull. He most likely pre-agreed terms for a return as part of the move to Hull. So he had no choice but to move back to Villa once they had triggered the clause. Kieran stated that Philogene wanted to join us but the contractual agreement with Villa made that impossible.

Makes sense I guess, thanks. Well at least as far as anything can makes sense in the ludicrous business of transfers. I'm sure it used to be a lot easier before any of this buy back/sell on clause nonsense.
