Brighton's gamesmanship/cheating tonight 21:27 - Jan 16 with 6518 viewsDubtractor

So much diving, feigning injury and time wasting.

Horrible team.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

You’re probably right on that point but I do think if we’re winning, Brighton’s tactics would be labelled game management. But if we’re losing then it’s gamesmanship.

Almost certainly a large portion of our support would be happy with it, you're right, not sure I would though.

To be clear though, my issue isn't with the occasional bit of gamesmanship, but with brighton doing it so relentlessly.

My issue is not so much that teams adopt these tactics but more that the PL & referees do nothing to discourage it.

If a player goes down and the referee allows play on but then halts play at the end of the phase or after a prolonged period then, in my opinion, the physios should have to come on and the player leave the pitch for the designated amount of time (1 min?).

If it happens persistently then the ref should ensure sufficient time is added on at the end. 4 or 5 substitutions last night, 2 goals, 5-6 prolonged stoppages, time wasting and stop/start at corners. There should have been 10-15 mins added time!
That said, I don't believe we would have got back into the game, Brighton were just a bit too good for us last night in terms of tactics, know how and firepower off the bench.

I would hate it if we did what brighton did tonight, whatever league we were in.

Nah. I *love it* when we do the shthousery. I think we call it 'game management' then don't we?

A special mention to Veltman, absolute prick ot the highest order.

Agreed. If I were playing against him last night, zero chance I’d have lasted the full 90 without a card or two.

Who was the number 34? Slightly dumpy lad. I was supposed to be going through sad emotions when they took the lead but the way he turned around to give it the big one to the kids in the family enclosure had me cringing on his behalf.

That was Veltman.

Diving at every opportunity, and managed to commit a ridiculous number of cynical fouls before the ref finally carded him on about 85 minutes.
