I don't want Woolfy or Fridge to leave on 15:50 - Jan 22 by _clive_baker_ | To be fair to him if someone offered me a fat pay rise to hang out in Miami for a few years with Beckham and Messi I'd be over there in a fecking heartbeat. |
This is totally the right answer. "Hi Luke this is David Beck......" "Yes absolutley when can I start ? "
I don't want Woolfy or Fridge to leave on 16:41 - Jan 22 with 753 views | Smoresy | I don't see any club offering close to what we paid for Greaves just yet, so he should be with us next season either way. Then we'd be mad not to take the option on Burgess's contract in the Championship - I'd like us to take it in either scenario - leaving Fridge with little or no time on the pitch. Spread your wings and fly Fridge. 🥲👋 Woolf leaving would be sad. Even moreso if we also lose McKenna, and even moreso if we're also back in the Championship. O'Shea is the one I could see other clubs enquiring about should we drop; he left Burnley in the same circumstances last summer and I expect would make representations to stay in the PL again, if he could. He and Woolf are quite chalk & cheese in their defending style, with McKenna preferring aggressive ball-winners.

I don't want Woolfy or Fridge to leave on 14:23 - Jan 22 by SaffronWaldenBlues | The issue is the "improvements" haven't been better so far, Wolfie and Burgess have played superbly at this level and have been both reliable and consistent. It's been a mistake to drop either. Greaves and O'Shea haven't been better or worse than either. As for selling Edmundson, that's all well and good but he's currently performing at a high level in the Championship. If we did drop, and we were forced to sell some of the "improvements" we will be looking for replacements at that level anyway. It would have made sense to leave him on loan as a just-in-case rather than try and cash in a paltry £500k now, and offer him a new contract in the summer. He knows the club, is well-liked, and would be in our Championship team next season. We will now have to find a new player, and while I know modern football fans are as addicted to signings as they are to anything, it doesn't always make sense. It's not sentiment, it all seems like silly business to me. |
Agree on Burgess/Greaves, but O'Shea has been one of our players of the season.

I don't think Woolfenden had done anything wrong to warrant to be dropped either earlier in the season or after Brighton, so that clouds my judgement. Even then, I'd say O'Shea is the stronger in a two, but Woolfenden is better in the middle of a three, with O'Shea on the right.

I don't want Woolfy or Fridge to leave on 15:51 - Jan 22 by Marshalls_Mullet | I don't think it would take much to persuade them. Are they likely to move on to a bigger / better club? |
Would you renew your contract when you've been dropped twice when playing well? And when those who have come in are earning loads more than you are, and have not shown themselves to be massively better than you, if at all? Woolf has been given every indication he is no longer what McKenna really wants but is now a useful back-up. If I'm him I want to play, and I want a big contract too. Which surely means he is likely to leave.

I don't want Woolfy or Fridge to leave on 14:15 - Jan 22 by pointofblue | Woolfenden's contract is up in the summer with no option for the club. It's sell now or potentially make nothing at all on him. |
Oh absolutely if he won't sign a new one

While we haven't seen loads of O'Shea centrally, I broadly agree with all of that. But I'd be a gutted and maybe even a bit disillusioned if we sold LW.
