So much pride 05:24 - Jan 25 with 1516 views | mattrolow | Born and raised in Ipswich, but now live in the Midlands. I’ve always taken pride in supporting my boyhood team against all of the glory hunting Premier League fans (my local team here are in League One) But I’ve never been more proud than seeing my seven year old son bound into school on non-uniform days or into football training wearing his Ipswich kit with pride. Even at seven the kids still poke fun at Ipswich (all in good spirit). Neither of us could wait to ge to school after the Spurs and Chelsea wins and give it back to his mates (perfectly fine for a 33 year old man to make fun of a seven year old in these circumstances). Even his football coach, when he first went in his Ipswich kit, said ‘trust me, by the time you’re grown up you won’t support Ipswich any more’. Obviously, it’s helped that since he’s known football we’ve been absolutely class. Maybe his allegiance will change one day, maybe peer pressure will get too much. So proud of where we are now as a club. Just some reflections from a man who is too exited to sleep before setting off to Anfield. [Post edited 25 Jan 5:26]

I’m still working on my daughter though, so I haven’t lost hope yet. She’s not really into football, but shows more interest in us than the one-paced, sideways passing borefest that passes for football in this city!

So much pride on 10:02 - Jan 25 with 932 views | strikalite | Back in the day when Town and Villa were the best sides in the country we used to travel back to the midlands(Parents from that area but moved to Ipswich with British Sugar)during school holidays etc, we used to go visiting relatives constantly, supporting Town as a kid can you imagine how proud I felt? They were all pretty much football mad and had their teams such as Wolves, Birmingham, WBA, Coventry, yes Villa too but even they had respect for us.. My Dad used to say "you don't know how lucky you are"...."you'll never get to see anything like this again"...well he's no longer with us now but just wish he was here to see that we're pretty damn close, as you make your way to Anfield..

I’ve a similar background. My Mum and Dad are from the Midlands and all on my Dad’s side were staunch Villa fans. Luckily for me they moved to Suffolk when I was a baby and Ipswich when I was 7, so I only never knew the Towen growing up. My dad would have loved to see where Villa are now, but passed away just before they became good again. Bar a couple of seasons, my uncle had always been able to tease me about how far we’d fallen. Not quite so much anymore.

If your son can take the ribbing of his mates at the age of 7, he's well set for life. I hope he has the blue shirt. Town will always play in blue - burgundy and pink are just passing fads like orange, barça and deckchair. Continue to feed that love of blue in him and he'll be starting threads like this in 26 years time with the same pride as you.
So much pride on 10:51 - Jan 25 with 806 views | TractorFrog | Stupid from the football coach. Age 7 is the only time you would get ribbed for not supporting a big six team. It gets much easier when you are older and instead it is the glory fans who are mocked.
| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | Who should start in CM with Cajuste? |

He's desperate to go to Portman road but the only bad thing is I've not been able to take him as can't get tickets. Hopefully Cov goes to general sale. Thought this season would be tough with all the defeats in the Prem but he's really stuck by them.

So much pride on 11:26 - Jan 25 with 687 views | TractorJack | Incredibly lame of the coach to say that. I've had some nice moments with my 5 year old this season. We were watching the Chelsea game and he was interested in why Cucurella was getting booed. Then when we were watching the Brighton game he asked where the man with the big beard was (he was thinking of Cucurella). When I explained he played for a different team he just said "I really don't like Cucurella".
