Watched the highlights of Bournmouth v Liverpool and in the last minute Alisson made a save almost identical to Muric for the 2nd Southampton goal. Except of course a Liverpool defender was on hand to clear. Didn't hear anyone say it was poor keeping and should have pushed it sideways ...
It happens all the time, even at the highest level. I think people can be unduly critical about keepers when they make a save and the ball goes back into a dangerous area. Somethimes its all they can do to make the save in the first place.
In my mind I was comparing it with Doku's goal for Man City, very similar in the that the player was dribbling at the right side of the defence and fired in a low shot at the near post. I thought Muric did very well to get to it, yesterday, and no blame to Walton for not saving Doku's vs Man City, but unfortunate for Muric that the ball bounced badly, the big lump was quicker than O'Shea and many people are looking to find fault with him.
Muric should have done a bit better, defenders should have reacted better. But given Muric and his constant mistakes it is clear why fans are hyper critical of him.

Exactly .. the save is judged depending on the reputation of the keeper and of course, the consequences.
