Coventry - Played last night & play on Tuesday 11:04 - Feb 6 with 3090 viewsBellevue_Blue

Hadn't realised they played Leeds last night! Near enough a guarantee they will heavily rotate with three games in six days.

Huge opportunity for us to progress even with a changed side ..

We've got to go strong Saturday, losing is a habit and we have to break it. We've got to start to build partnerships on the pitch and constantly changing the side isn't going to help that.

Great chance to start the partnership of our new GK and CB's as well.

A second XI is more than capable of winning this. KM made 11 changes in the last round and will inevitably do so again against weaker opposition.

We are going to need the whole squad over the next 14 games, especially those off the bench and a cup run is a great chance to keep everyone interested and confident.

Imagine Delap/ Hutch/ O'Shea/ Davis got injured playing needlessly in a cup game. You'd be going mad.

A nice win with goal/s at the away end are exactly what’s needed right now to lift the gloom.

A week between Cov & Villa as well. I’d just go full strength, it’s not like we’ve got a great track record of looking particularly sharp after a break. As you say build some continuity and hopefully confidence from a win.

I think fielding a strong side in a competition that we’re unlikely to get beyond the Quarter final stage is a big risk. Would we really risk 8/9/10 of the expected first team for a place in the Quarters
Or keep as much of the team injury free for what is undoubtedly a big final Fourteen games.

Players get injured in training anyway. I would suggest the first team would be sensible apart from two thoughts:

They could still lose if Coventry are up for it and that could actually dent confidence even further.

The squad players who aren't getting regular minutes could probably do with minutes. (Although how many of them aren't getting many minutes at the moment anyway?)

I would favour picking the first team but unsure which of the 3 keepers. Palmer would mean a chance to get to know the defence. Slicker would benefit from the match and until a few days ago must have been considered our cup keeper. Muric is probably now second choice so would become the regular cup keeper and could probably do with a confidence-boosting match (but also could end up with the opposite if he did play).

I dont know that the pros of avoiding injury outweigh the benefits of getting the consistent team selectionlooking to win a match ahead of next league game. I’m inclined to go as familiar as possible to last Saturday with a couple of tweaks.

Palmer
Tuanzebe
Wolfy
greaves
Leif
Morsy
Cajuste
Broadhead
Enciso
Jaden
Hirst

Finishers
Slicker
Townsend / Godfrey
Phillips
Taylor
Clarke

Rest aimed for these but on bench for Delap, Omari

Some say go second eleven I'd go strong, if we play the second 11 and lose it will damage us, our first 11 isn't loosing this one,and as said a week till villa,

There'd be uproar if we lost Delap to a season ender because we risked him against Coventry though.

That but I’d swap Tuanzebe for Godfrey, Townsend for Leif and Phillips for Cajuste.
Also Szmodics in for Clarke.
