Looking at the post about playing clubs more than once in a matter of days got me thinking who, over the years we've played most in our history. I'm guessing that lot up the road, but I'm wondering who else we've matched league to league for the longest time. Probably Google-able somewhere, but worth a guess or two.

Am I being thick or is it odd that we’ve played our local rivals the most of any team? It’s not obvious this would be the case. I’m not sure how true that would be of other local rivals eg Sheff utd and Sheff Wed. I guess it implies that of all the teams in the league we have been at the same level more together than any other. |  | | |

It's a good question. I don't know if it's unique, the more I think about it, the more you can pair up quite a few local rivals that probably have played each other loads.

I guess they become your rival partly because you play them more, maybe one of many reasons the Colchester utd rivalry never took off.

It's a coincidence to an extent, but sharing ten seasons with them in the regionalised Division 3 South meant we would inevitably meet them more than any of the northern types. | | | |
