Thats a head injury. He is OBLIGED to stop the game 16:45 - Feb 22 with 4033 viewsredrickstuhaart

He has stopped it twice for non head injuries to Tottenham players and also for a very similar head injury incident the other end.

Once again, I genuinely question the integrity of refereeing in the PL.

We can use all the excuses going. Players injured, players sent off, goals disallowed, penalties not given etc, etc. But at the end of the day we ain't good enough. We have had some decent results against decent opposition, but failed against lesser sides where our players have made mistakes or under performed. I don't necessarily believe that changing the team regularly works either. We win a game or get a decent draw and then the line up for the next game has four changes. I think this is partly due to the number of new players coming in this season, 14 if you exclude Hutchinson. Not all have integrated.

The ref was, predictably, pathetic. The second half especially he seemed to just want to make the game about him, he broke it up constantly - including several times for Spurs players going down "injured" - and every set piece took an age as he made a show of talking to the players, letting them know the game was about him and not them. It also seemed that the outcome of every single drop ball was Spurs being given the ball one way or another, regardless of who had the ball before he stopped playing. It significantly helped to stall our momentum at a time where we had been largely on top.

When a Spurs player went down clutching their head, he blew instantly to stop play, even though it clearly wasn't serious and they needed no treatment and got up more or less immediately. That he saw Greaves go down holding his head after an obvious clash challenging for the ball just shows the bias towards the established Prem teams. There's zero chance that goal happens if the roles are reversed, he'd have blown straight away if a Spurs defender had gone down like that.

Having seen a different angle and how the ref looked back at greaves and carried on, that is a shambles, regardless of scorelines etc etc, that needs investigating for the health and safety of footballers going forwards.

a niche perspective

He is just a really bad ref. Held the game up early on as Delap was an inch over the 18 yard line at a goal kick!!!
