But there is no solid evidence to that. Everyone talks about the rich leaving in droves if tax goes up but even in the 70s when it was significantly higher tax the stats just don't back it up.


He’s literally just posted some evidence, and the UK economy and wages were largely dreadful in the 1970’s compared to our European peers so not a good benchmark.

Individuals are irrelevant anyway to a $3trn economy, however businesses are not - and many have suggested they’ll reduce investment in the UK following the NI rises. Some stats already have the UK economy shrinking in Q1 as firms prepare for increased costs. Corp tax is already at g7 median levels so any further increases with just see more capital moved offshore. As Stow says the only solution is global cooperation to property tax companies - and that’s not likely given current tensions with Trump.
