Newcastle keen on Delap 05:37 - Mar 17 with 2327 viewsWolfieAtTheBack

According to BBC sport.

Don't actually mind him going to Newcastle, would rather he go there than Chelsea.

Would rather he stay here of course...

Two interesting bidding wars to look forward to this summer...Delap and Isak. I’d be ok with Delap going to anywhere except Manchester, Leeds, Chelsea or Norwich....Newcastle would be great as I attend a few matches there when I’m up visiting my son and be good to see him play. I have the same preferences for Isak too, but think it’ll be between Arsenal and Liverpool for him

I’ll be pleased for him wherever he goes and hope to see him in an England shirt soon.

Sadly it won’t be us that profits from the bidding war, it’ll be City. They’ll simply activate their buyback clause and then sell him on. Delap will play ball as they’ll offer him a decent chunk of the profits as has become common with these clauses.

The best place for Delap next season is with us. Anywhere else and hea a bench warmer. What we've seen this season is potential. His game is nowhere near developed yet, as has been shown throughout the second half of the season.

Does anyone know what the situation is with Delap and City's buyback. Is it a fixed fee, match highest bid or what? Seen a lot of differing scenarios but nothing definitive.

We should get a good fee for him, some supporters are claiming he could stay but I don't think there's a chance in hell, especially now he's missed the England squad, he'll be wanting to push on his career at a club who can better support that opportunity.

An East Anglian Town overtaken by Londoners

If in all likelihood we are relegated there is no way that Delap will want to play in the Championship, especially with it being the World Cup next year.

Exactly, after showing he's up to the PL, he rightly won;t want to drop down a level to the Championship. For his own career, I hope he goes somewhere where he plays regularly, rather than becoming a benchwarmer at a big club.

Surely Isak to Arsenal would be a sideways step, can't see him going there. Surely has to be a reasonable chance he stays at Newcastle

If Delap is sold then it must be done in a way that makes us the maximum amount and not where the buying club pay us peanuts whilst offloading one of their star players for 100 million plus. There will be the need to not only replace Delap but also to rejig our midfield. Possibly on leaving Cajuste with Morsy as a back up and getting rid of Loungo, Taylor and Phillips back to City.

Newcastle need 2 top strikers so Delap would be a superb signing for them Wilsons days are over there if you take away the sentiment.

Yes, I wasn't dismissing Delap going to Newcastle, in fact I think would be a great fit for them/him and they'd love him up there.

The rumour is Champions League, ie if Newcastle don't make CL, Isak would be OK with moving.
