Away allocation at PR next season 12:30 - Mar 17 with 2178 viewsCopfordBlue

Anyone know if it’s likely to go back to the 2,000 or so it was before this season? I’ve not been in the Cobbold since the changes so have no idea how easy it would be to re-configure.

If it goes back to close to how it was prior to this season, I hope that the supporters who were moved out of their seats get the chance to go back to the half way line if the away allocation is reduced. Many were dismissive of them last year, with a “who cares?” attitude. I got that there was a lot to do in a short space of time, that there were not any viable alternatives and no matter what was done, changes would not suit everyone but I did feel sorry for those who got turfed out of their old seats.

It will only about 3/4 teams would want 3000 allocation - one of the few upsides of going down.

It’s also a joke that you can get the best seat in the house for £30…..bonkers…

I assume it will drop back down to closer to 2,000.

We were able to offer additional home seats when Bournemouth didn't sell their allocation, so I assume the current segregation is somewhat modular.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

It’s our choice to put the away fans there. The £30 price cap for away fans is just about the only genuinely positive thing I can think of that the Premier League does for supporters.

It happened for the Bournemouth match and presumably Bristol Rovers too.

Agreed but we get the best seats back next year for our fans….. had a pal who was a Utd fan sat second row on half way line - couldn’t believe his luck!!

Noticed this last game lots of safe standing barriers in there now.

They won't go back to season tickets even if the space becomes home ticket only again as if we went up again which is the hope, dream, plan, you'd just have to move them away again.

Agree, you allocate those extra seats to season ticket holders and we get promoted again; the whole sorry saga of trying to move season ticket holders starts all over again. Hopefully if they re-build the Cobbold, season ticket holders like myself who were affected and ended up in restricted view areas will be accommodated. But I won't hold my breath.

It was a shocker from the club..no communication until pictures appeared on social media. Then told the people impacted not to complain because it was all about the Premier League. Sums up the bad bit of Premier League, we are just bodies to make an atmosphere and fill the background on tv.

And to give the away team the advantage of having fans in prime position over the half way line is madness.

The South Stand is designed ready for segregation at the entrance and exit, it will cause more pain to move them but away fans should be in there, will happen when they rebuild Cobbold anyway.

I guess next season they will reduce the away allocation but use it as a chance to increase match day tickets rather than sell them as season tickets.

No chance that the VU3 block seats will be sold as season tickets.

These a prime seats that the club will want to sell at the same match day price as C block.

Disagree, all SAR seats have clear view of the pitch while where the away fans are now has a lot of restricted views towards the back. Moving the aways would mean having inferior seats for our fans. I'd give the away fans the restricted back rows of the Pioneer too instead of the same number of seats from the front of the Portman Upper. Aways like safe standing anyway so would be just right for them.

I was there when McKenna's ITFC won in the Premier League at Home. Our only home win in a year.

It poses an interesting question at Championship level where, rather than being fixed at a certain price, away ticket prices must be the same as those for equivalent home seats.

Profiteering (and the fact that some sections of the support will pay the asking price merely to be at Portman Road, whether that comes with a good view, or a seat behind a pillar) aside, charging decent prices for the poor seats in the away end means that the club can't reduce prices for restricted views in similar home areas of the stadium.

Some of the severely RV seats at Portman Road are terrible.

These seats shouldn't even be sold, or if they are it should be at a reduced price for both home and away fans.

Couldn't agree with you more - the upper tier of the Pioneer stand, in particular, is pretty poor throughout the piece since the new press box was stuck in there. I sit fairly centrally in Block M, and the Pioneer/North Stand corner is almost impossible to see under normal circumstances without a good degree of craning:

And bear in mind that this is with everyone sat back, and reaching my phone out a little to take the shot.

I remember getting a restricted view ticket at Stamford Bridge a few years back for a very cheap price (I want to say £10?) and, once I got there, it transpired that the restriction was merely being unable to see the quadrant at one corner of the pitch.

As long as the stadium is selling out every week, the powers that be won't give a damn about charging full price for poor views.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.
