Didn't Southgate gets us to 2 finals and a semi final, suggesting we need just a little bit more? Better tactical nouse and and a willingness to be slightly smarter with team selections and subs would have won us one of those tournaments.

It always amazes me that players who can barely string a sentence together are invited to be pundits. What were they expecting from Rooney?
I always thought Jason Roberts was an excellent pundit. Then he disappeared from coverage to be replaced by terrible pundits. Scholes as well. Not thick but incredibly miserable. | |

Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and that oddball Le Tissier all got the chop, yet Merson somehow escaped.
Maybe, given his history, they feel they have a duty of care or something.
Whatever, the truth is he’s a barely literate oaf and a lazy pundit, bloated and comfortable in his misguided belief that people think he’s a bit of geezer with something interesting to say. |  |
