Broja 21:17 - Mar 21 with 2351 views | LeoMuff | Looks a handful for Albania, would have been good for us if he could stay fit

Broja on 21:22 - Mar 21 with 2302 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I am sure that would be true of a fully fit Broja but how many minutes has he played for Everton? Also now would be too late for us if he was just beginning to get fit. Is the England defence any better than the average Premier League one (especially as they play together far more regularly)? Nice goal there from Kane!

He's played 17 minutes for Everton, according to the commentary yesterday....
Broja on 09:25 - Mar 22 with 1676 views | bournemouthblue | The fact he took so long to get fit for Everton suggests we made the right call I do like him as a player, he has a lot of qualities that McKenna would like I think the Greek fella looked pretty good as well We were linked with Michy Batshuayi towards the end of the window who raised some eyebrows but I suspect would have done a job He's probably fallen up because he's ended up on loan to Frankfurt I do think failing to get another striker in has caused a lot of issues for us this season, it wasn't a magic bullet but that phase where Al-Hamadi was coming on and not looking up to it, seemed to halt some important momentum at that stage in the season Philogene may well come good but the money we spent on him could have been spent on a striker I suspect Philogene, Clarke and Hutch will link up pretty effectively in the Championship Broadhead I feel has been short changed a bit and Szmodics who's probably our most natural goal scorer has never quite hit a phase of consistency he'll probably show once he stays fit for a longer period [Post edited 22 Mar 9:28]

I can't get my head around us not securing another number 9 For me that caused a lot of problems in the first phase of the season

We could have had Messi and Ronaldo in their prime up there and it’d have made no difference with the zilch service our forwards received. I’m more disappointed that we didn’t strengthen midfield. [Post edited 22 Mar 9:46]

I think the issue was the lack of options. We clearly focussed on Ioanidis and Broja and would have got the latter over the line had he been fit. Others focussed on the likes of Watkins and didn't get anyone over the line. It is where it is important to go for the right targets because spending the time on the wrong ones sees you missing out altogether. Could we have got Moore or Latte Lath had we gone for one of them instead early in the window? Would we then potentially have been left rueing not going for Broja or Ioanidis?

I disagree a little bit because I think a good hard working hold up striker creates more space for those creative players That's been a problem for me If we had signed someone else, we could have actually played Delap out on a wing and rotated them and Hirst Instead we are just rotating Hirst and Delap but could really do with someone else

When the ball has been received up front, usually by Delap, there have been two or three players on him instantly and most of the rest of the team camped more or less around our penalty area. That he’s managed to do what he’s done (turning and barrelling with the ball) with zero service is why the big boys will fight over him. You could have played three up front, old fashioned inside right, left, CF and it’d have made no difference at all. A 7-0-3 formation is novel, but is never going to work. Poor old Delap. What we’ve been playing I’ve no idea - let’s call it the doughnut formation. Something around the edges, possibly good, but nothing in the middle. Regardless, 20 mins in, it’ll all collapse on to the edge of our penalty area. Even playing the ball out is beyond painful because there is no space or anywhere to go. Even Haaland and Salah would do nothing with that behind them. Back to Broja, Everton are rich enough to take the risk. A snip. A punt. Easy decision for them. Not for us. Of course he was a good player. Chelsea saw him as the future. Until he got injured and then they tried to mug us off. Pure and simple. Happy days for them. I know we were desperate but thank goodness that never materialised.

I like Delap a lot but for all the positives he offered, he isn't so good at the hold up play or bringing others in around him, that's why I'd prefer to see him drifting off the wing in tandem with perhaps Hirst or this mystical number 9, I think he'd be more effective off the wing provided we had another wrecking ball upfront taking that physical strain [Post edited 22 Mar 19:01]
